EdgeRouter Lite 3

So while my FTTC won't be going higher than 10mb in the near future, my 100mb EoP LAN and 150mb Wifi is starting to strain under the vast array of networked devices we now have in a modern household.
My work PC struggles to talk reliably to my TV for example.

My house is in dire need of new flooring and carpeting, so I'm taking the opportunity to look into a 1G wired point in each room. Just looking though.
So where to start?

I've settled on the EdgeRouter Lite 3 port to be my new nevrvous center for my home network.
I selected this because it's custom moddable via software, the build quality is amazing and the reported speed of the thing is insane for what it is.
1 port FTTC, 1 port wired LAN, 1 port Wifi. It's enterprise grade hardware with a dual core MIPS64 CPU which is just about consumer affordable and the stock Linux firmware is mainly a command line setup, there is little web or point and click access.
The router itself will eventually run a custom NetBSD install powering DHCP, DNS, etc.

The wired port will lead out to a 1G switch which for the time being will connect my existing XS35 shuttle server, my gaming PC and my current 100Mbs EoP LAN.
The wireless port will lead out to the 300Mb Wifi router, which is currently a TA-WA901ND router running OpenWRT.

By retiring my XS35 server from being the central router (with USB - ethernet dongles, at 100mbs) I hope to get greater throughput pretty much right away.

Hopefully someone will find this interesing if they are in a similar boat.

well the Edgerouter Lite 3 is a nice little piece of kit, has a lot of power for the money (tend to be the case with Ubnt)
Tho i think the TL-WA901ND is a odd piece of kit, boasting 300mbit wireless, yet only having 100mbit ethernet is a little off. (Ubnt has a ton of small affordable access points, which would perform a lot better. Or picking up a cisco 1142 Light weight AP cheap used and turning it into a autonomous AP) and the datasheets i found on hte TL-WA901ND (rev1,2,3) all failed to mention the capacity of the AP (yet teh only reference ive found so far states less then 100mbit forwarding capacity)
