Anyone fan of Coen brothers? One of best moviemakers nowadays for me. Recently started to watch the tv series FARGO and I am in love again. The original FARGO movie is a masterpiece and I expected this to fail, because it is very hard to live up to the movie but they did great job and it still has very strong "coen vibe". So i would recommend watching that. Watch the movie first though :)

Hi mate,

Yes, one of my fave director(s). The Big Lebowski and (the odd pick I know) Ladykillers are probably my faves. Raizing Arizona was great too. And True Grit.. and... and... :)

I had planned to skip Fargo series, but based on your comments, I will give it a go :)

Love the big but I perfer the original ladykillers. Fargo was great. I usually do enjoy their movies

Original '55 Ladykillers is also great and I like that too! A movie from another age, though.

Agreed but still think it is better than the reboot IMHO but then I am a huge fan of that eara of comedy too

Glad I am not alone :) ppl around me dont seem to get their movies. I love Big Lebowski, seen it probably more then 50 times and can do it again and again. But its the same with their other movies. And it all started when I randomly went to watch this art movies festival and there was Blood Simple. Never heard about it and Coen brothers and it was something different. Then Big L came around and I was hooked. Started looking for their work and discovered older Fargo and that was something! Then movie after movie they keep surprising me with various themes and ideas for a story. They can do so many things and they do them all well, its not like some directors focus only on action movies, they can do them all.

And I think the success is also down to other ppl in their crew. They had one cameraman for many of their movies and I love how this guy works, he shot Sicario recently and thats a great movie also thanks to him. Then music, they can really incorporate the music very well and it sticks with me but also in movies like No country for old men, they didnt use any music so the whole movie is so tense and full of life. Last but not least they have a very good taste in actors which is so important. And I dont mean just big roles but even people who show up for 2 minutes in the movie stick with me.

Also John Goodman, he is the best :)

Its very hard to pick top 3, so lets make it top 5 shall we :)

Big Lebowski
Fargo
No country for old men
Ladykillers
cant decide :) A Serious Man? Miller's Crossing? Burn After Reading? True Grit? The Man Who Wasn't There? ah so tough :)

So yeah if you are not sure about Fargo tv series, give it a go, Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman steal the show among others. Thats the first season.
