What you need is an MMO where you don't have to grind just to participate.
Guild Wars 2 is a good choice - I took a break for a few years, went back recently and my gear was still fine for end game content.

But yeah, I don't really have the time investment available for a MMO right now, so instant result FPS is the other of the day, and Overwatch has that nicely
