Dear dmwers, please help :)

I have LG 50PT53 tv and Marantz PM6004 amplifier. I use HDMI to HDMI from laptop to watch movies and stuff on the tv. I am about to order the Steam Link which uses HDMI to connect to the tv. Now the question is, how do I get the sound from the tv to the amplifier. I thought this would do, but there is no sound.

These are the back connection boards for both devices. Unfotunatelly I have noticed the tv doesnt have a headphones output which would be an easy solution with this cable or maybe I am really blind :D

Thanks for any ideas.

Your TV out options is a toslink cable (optical out), howver your amp does not have an optical in.  Not sure if the phonos on the side on your TV are out/in, if they are out, you could connect those to the phonos on the amp.

Or perhaps there's a toslink > phono or banana plug adapter (the gold inputs in the centre look like banana plug in)

You need to have a read through your manual and identify what is what.

Composite connections on the side are IN :( So i guess the only TV sound out option is optical so maybe this cable is what you mean?

And yes, they are banana plugs.

I am just really surprised that the tv doesnt have a headphones output :O

Something like that should work.  Perhaps get a second opinion before buying anything though as I have never used those kinds of adapters before.

looks like your only option is the optical to 3.5 converter.  You could get something like this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Optical-Converter-Adapter-Headphone-2-1-CH-3-5mm-Audio-Output/dp/B00IXN6L3G/ref=pd_sim_23_5?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=S8VZSK3A30NDX9JR21GE

then you can use the 5v output from the TV's usb port?
