Android 7.0

It's here, I'm running it, not much that's revolutionary.

The new notifications bar is a great improvement and I can reply to messages, emails etc all from the bar and without having to fire up each app in turn. I've not had cause to use split screen yet but I can think of a few uses for it.

What is sweet is that Doze now works while I'm carrying my phone in my pocket and moving. before the phone had to be not moving about for Doze to kick in. Now it's comes into effect whenever the screen is off and the phone is idle, whether that's sitting on a table or in my pocket. Very nice.

Incremental as always, but it looks like a nice little upgrade. I doubt my OP1 is going to see an update to this, so it might be upgrade time when the next wave of Nexus hardware arrives....

Also worth mentioning that I am now all Quadcopter exploit fixed, which is nice.

I like your thinking - I'm in the same boat with my Nexus 5, so next month's expected release info on the new Nexus hardware is eagerly anticipated.

Naming aside (Nougat? The gift immediately followed by "I did get you chocolates, why are you looking so glum? Honey? Honey? PLEASE PUT THE KNIFE DOWN!"), I'm quite liking 7.0.
Been running it since Beta 2, and to be honest i had expected some more changes in the final release than this. Still, it appears to be an improvement over the last version. The notification bar has once again seen significant upgrades (while Apple is still playing catch-up to the one from Kitkat), and they've gone at it with split screen functionality as well. The look&feel is still Material Design, no reason to change that while several major app developers are still trying to find a way to charge the customer an arm and a leg for UI's that look far worse. Besides, Samsung isn't finished ruining it yet.

Some bugs from the beta persist in the final, but those are bound to be fixed now that they're being reported on twitter by the whiny mass-consumers instead of through the feedback channel from fairly level-headed people.
I'm guessing Google didn't do too much work on getting Hangouts to work properly in 7.0 since they're relegating it to the corporate section soon anyway. Nonetheless, it's sort of shocking for Google themselves to not be able to fix a bug in their own app, on their own phone!

Still, could be worse. I could have been stuck with an iPhone...

For those stiffed on the upgrades, rumors have it the next lot are being made by HTC. Yes, the Taiwanese are returning to the Nexus game after we've been stuck with the Koreans and a quite decent showing by the mainland chinese.
I've changed employers though, so if I'm gonna get my hands on the HTC goodness, it's going to have to be out of my own pocket (24 month replacement cycle. Bleh.). Still, considering it. Considering...
