Just to make all aware, I have noticed an issue with promoting threads to articles. Not sure if this is a bug or intentional, but it has caused me a few issues so I thought to share it.

When you promote a thread to an article and keep the original thread intact, in some circumstances replies to the original thread do not appear in the 'What's New?' or 'New Posts' area of the forum. This can be bothersome, as if you want to post something that you need people to see, they will likely miss it!

I think this is related to disabling comments on the article

For example, I posted the Overwatch twitch streaming thread yesterday. I disabled comments and closed the thread as I wanted it to be bumped only by myself when I was due to stream, so the thread could be used as a reminder / alert for people. I posted in the original thread tonight, and noticed that the post did not appear in Whats New / New Posts. This is a pretty useless reminder for people, as no one will see it :D

I noticed this with some of the LAN threads too. I am not sure, but I think it may only happen when comments are disabled.

To solve this problem this time I have moved the original (borked) thread to the news/announcements section of the forum, and made a new (identical) thread in the Overwatch section, that DOES get pushed to Whats New / New Posts as per usual.

Probably a non-issue for mot of you, but something to be aware of if you are thinking of posting articles and disabling comments. I am something like 90% sure this is the cause.. can test it when I next push something to article and update.

TL;DR - Do not disable comments when you promote to articles, it will bork your original thread somewhat.

It won't show in 'what's new' as you've already seen it.

Try using 'Today's posts'* and you'll get 24hrs posts with the ones you've seen greyed out.

Maybe?

I have it bookmarked as my landing page.

Nah, posts in the Whats New tab stay regardless of if one has viewed them or not!

There are different ways of seeing the new posts, and undoubtedly what you're describing above is 'better'.. I just don't want people missing important posts if they use one of the other ways :)
