Bad night on Ark.

Not sure I didn't add to the melee earlier. Apologies if so.

Plus side is that I tamed a replacement 130 griffin. Negative is that I killed it, the Pteranadon at Wyvern Base And my lovely Red Griffin doing egg runs. Ended up with a nice lightning egg but heavy, heavy cost.

So, tomorrow, Jas, I'll get another pteranadon to act as egg runner and I'll go tame another griffin or two to replace the replacements ..... arrrgh sometimes this game.   :doh:

It added a certain frisson of excitement to the mundane XP farming we were doing :devil: :roflmao:. Suddenly the sky was full of Wyverns and no-one laid claim to any of them. Then the worry set in and chaos was chomping on its heels.

I think Griffin runs for egg snatching would be better done 2up, we've had a few instances where Griffins have take off as soon as the pilot got off no matter what their stance.

Also the passenger can switch to selfie and see whats following safely.

I'm going to try to get an egg tonight. I will probably follow this with 1 or 2 Griffin tames with a mind to donate spares for group use.

Idk about that man, I solo duelled 4 wyverns in the air last night and stole a total of 8 eggs, alone on my fire wyvern. Only 1 was any good but still... I think I may have taken your crown.

And for those interested, whilst fighting these I did some Wyvern-y research.

Wild wyverns have huge buffs to health and damage. The short end of this means do not try to take on a wild 150 lightning on your tamed 150, it has much better stats than you. You need to find ones at least 50 levels below your own if you want to fight them (and btw, fighting Wyverns in the air is pretty fun).

Poisons are your best bet, their breath is weak. Fire is ok, as long as there is a 50+ level gap, and lightning wyverns are a no go without a really high level gap and... big cahones. The breath of a lightning does constant high damage (unlike the others that do an initial impact damage and then much lower damage over the duration of the beam).

Oh and this should go without saying but if you end up aggro-ing 2 or 3, you just run. You can ditch wyverns if you run through geometry they get stuck on (under bridges / arches etc). From what I can tell they are the same speed in the wild as tamed (although with the rider and gear the tamed will be slightly slower, but nothing you can't make up for with good flying).

Anyway the real reason for finding and removing lower levels is people think that the eggs that spawn depend on the Wyverns in the scar - if there are high level Wyverns there will be higher level eggs. So, if one was able to remove all of the lower levels, you should be able to force the eggs that spawn to be higher levels. As far as I know this isn't confirmed by the devs, but evidence based (from other servers killing all wild dinos and spawning only high or low level Wyverns to then see what it did to the egg spawns).
