I need help with Sharepoint.

I've given a lot of info to a colleague's business to help them move from paper to cloud and finally they got around to doing it and used a 'local IT' chap to manage it.   They used to have a file server which also ran exchange, but they have now moved the emails to the cloud (Outlook) and are in the process of moving the files from the file server to 'One Drive'.  The IT chap when asked if Sharepoint was better told them that Sharepoint and One Drive were the same thing - so all their shared data from the file server is now in individual One Drive folders and the individual user then shares them out to the other users in the business.  Even I know that this is bull and there is no way on earth it should be set up like this - so I told my mate this.

Bottom line is that he has figured out his local IT chap is crap and has now asked me to help him and I am inclined to have some fun, help him and learn something for myself along the way by helping them set up their IT properly - so does anyone have any Sharepoint admin learning resources that I can throw myself into and rapidly learn more about it?  If you do, please send me a PM and we'll figure out how to get them from me to you.  Free beers may be involved!

The business has circa 20 users, has three main functions: client work (which is longterm ongoing not project based), accounts and compliance.  All the users need access to all of the 'client work', only the accounts and compliance need restricted access, so I think a Sharepoint site should work well enough for them with perhaps subsites for Accounts and Compliance.

Thanks in advance for an help or info provided.

The 'local IT' guy is right to some extent. Onedrive for a small business can be placed along side a team SharePoint and utilise the same files already within Onedrive:

For SharePoint you still have to put a bit of effort into the team views and structure but I imagine it's not too much effort for for a small company.

Thanks, I'll have a look at that option too.
