Another upgrade

My  new home PC is wonderful now (thanks again Chaos) but it's just illustrated how  old my office PC is so I think I'll update that too.

Scan  have suggested the following but I'd be grateful if anyone has any thoughts on  it. It's an office PC of course and I'll strip out the SSD's from the current  one hence the lack of drives in it.

I  do need some sort of graphics card (unless the GTX790) I currently have is worth  just continuing with (Occasionally I may play from the office)

Can you just clarify what GPU you have, a 790 isn't a thing.

After that I can have a look and make some adjustments to save some pennies I'm sure.

Other question, what sort of work? If it doesn't involve any sort of content creation then you don't really need 32GB of ram - only if you're not bothered at the added expense would I recommend it.

Thanks. The existing graphics card is a GTX790.

The most heavy duty work is photo manipulation. He guy said 32gb was kinda overkill but it was only £30 more.

As far as I know a 790 is not a thing.. As in, it doesn't exist.

It was a rumored dual GPU card, but I can't find anything to say it actually came to market... Nor can I see you having ended up with one as dual GPU cards cost an absolute fortune whenever they do make it outside of the realm of enthusiast concepts xD not something I can imagine a non-enthusiast buying my mistake!

Do you mean a 970?

I would have thought that this intended use might be a good example of when an AMD system might be better than an Intel system.

I think you can build an AMD system for pretty much any use now! They have great budget, mid, gaming, and HEDT parts. They have a CPU to cover just about everything, it's brilliant. The CPU market is in a great place compared to the last few years.

The system I recommended pen was built around Intel, but this was more down to the particular config options scan offered rather than a preference for one platform or another.
