I've been asked how to connect to a server via a short-cut, including rcon access. I'm posting this here as it is useful information for all.

The shortcut link below is what I use, I know there are many more options, so post em below and I'll amend this post.

D:Half-Lifehl.exe -console -game cstrike +rcon_password [rconpw] +connect [ipaddress]:[port] +password [serverpw]

Explanation.

Replace the items in square brackets with the obvious :)
+rcon_password
This will give you rcon access to the server if you have the rcon password. Replace [rconpw] with the password.
+connect
This enables you to connect to a server directly, bypassing the normal start-up screens. Replace [ipaddress] with the server IP and [port] with the server port. (Note, the colon : is required between the ip and port, no spaces.)
+password
This is the server password, if needed. Replace [serverpw] with the server password.

Similar to you but I use AdminMod instead of RCON (let's not go there eh?)
and use the following in addition to those shown above:

+voice_dsound 1 -noforcemparms -noforcemaccel -32bpp -full +exec adminpass.cfg +connect IP:PORT +password pw

+voice_dsound 1 overcomes some probs with sound cards and directx
-noforcemparms -noforcemaccel sorts out mad acceleration of MS mice
-32bpp gives me glorious 32bit colour
-full runs in full screen (use -win 800x600 to give CS in a window at guess what size)
+exec adminpass.cfg executes my cfg file that contains my AdminMod details (password etc)

I'm sure others have mentioned this, but I use Serverwatch for monitoring the servers.

it's small, free, sits in the taskbar and shows you how many people etc are playing on a particular server. It also let's you quick join them.

Some of those CVARs are a bit dodgy benny, especially the bob ones.  But afaik won't result in being kicked/banned.  (So they tell me  )

if a server uses wwcl or whatever it is it will reset certain cvars to default.

bob and bobcycle being two rather annoying cvars that some of us like to switch off :P bygames servers allow you to turn of cl_bob within their wwcl checks thing so nyah :)
