backing up your steam games

steam backup

the above link will kickstart a wizard that will generate an backup executable. The wizard lets you select which games you want to backup, choose the location and select whether you are going to write them to dvd or cd/s. The wizard wil then create a number of files depending on the size of the backup.

It doesnt backup hl2, so i guess we will have to wait untill after its released.

Steams been updated to make it a bit easier -

A platform update is available and will be applied automatically when Steam is restarted. The changes include:

Added backup game files feature (right click on game)

Added purchase support for American Express, Discover and JCB credit cards

All the steam games i have comes to about 5.5 gig. Which steam reckons will fit on 6 cds.

Im glad they did this, now the only reason to buy the box set is if u are a collector or cant be bothered to write a few cds. (or its cheaper to buy at amazon then order of steam )
