LIke the topic says.

There should be plenty of servers now.  I shall be playing this tonight. :)

(p.s. Started a new thread as benny's title didnt really didnt cover the subject)

Maus

Is this the same one as the "gameplay test" released a while back, or a new version?

New version. Make sure you get Beta 1a and not Beta 1 (get it from here to be safe)

Jamoe

it's alot better. There are still bugs, hence its still a beta. But with more maps, models, animations and new features its alot better then the taster version.

Plus there are about 21 servers http://www.steampowered.com/status/game_stats.html

it looks like its doing fairly well compared to other hl2 mods. :)

I've got a bit tired of their forums unfortunately. There are too many people who use it for an opportunity for swearing and their forum admins just let things go. I reported one person about a month ago because his signature was unnecesary gratuitous swearing and they took no action.  If their Mod is successful, and I hope it is, then they are going to have to get much more mature about how they run a forum :(

Theres plenty of swearing, you only have too look at some of the admins posts to see why they havent stomped on it. I dont find it offensive or annoying, maybe becuase I know some of them in RL and thats how they talk.

But I agree if they want to be taken more serioulsy by mature gamers they are going to need to show themselves in a slightly more professional light.

I've been speaken with Boxy about the issues above and shown him this thread. He recognises its an issue and in light of professionalism is going to try sort things out.

I don't see many ppl trying hidden, is that just becuase there are too many ppl playing bf2? or because of the issues stated above?

imo:

Its a fantastic game, more enjoyable then cs/cz, the gameplay enforces teamplay (when againts a good hidden). But gives the solo frag hunter their fun when they get to be the hidden. Something for everyone.

Would like to see a few more dMw playing but I know there are too many games and not enough hours.

If you have played it, post here and give us your opinion.

I pld the first release. I do like the concept of it, but i couldnt play it for very long.
(But it was very buggy then) Seemed very hard for the Hidden? I was playing with 3 people and hidden was finding it hard to kill 1-2 .
Im going to dl the new version tomorrow night and have a game :)

suicidal_monkey

I had a quick go but got bored after a few rounds. didn't turn out to be as sneaky or as fun as I'd hoped from the website. Will give it another chance later, perhaps it needs a better bunch of people to be playing it (hint hint).

It does take alot of practice to become good at being the hidden. The secret is in the pounce. If while looking up in the air, you press pounce then jump you will see a sneaky way of confusing the marines. You shoguld pounce all the time, I find it best to move by jump pouncing, you can easily out run marines that way.

The better you know the maps the easier it is, pouncing on ledges above the heads of marines, picking you moment to jump down with a well timed pig stick. Then pounce back up, befor anyone notices.

The thrill is similar to being the last player on your team alive (in CS) and you take out the entire oposition. So thrilling and tense. Playing againts a good hidden also makes for a nerve racking game.

Up until last night I did not enjoy the game, it wasnt untill i worked out how good hiddens play did i start to get into it more.

I'm still not convinced, but mostly because the exploits from the test version all seem to still be there and I'm never convinced I'm playing a fair game.

Jamoe

What exploits are these. Can u list a few so I can dig some more.

At the end of the day this is still a beta so I can understand why we wont all jumpat the chance of p[laying it. The game play is alot different to the normal 8v8 games so it probably wont catch on like other mods have.

I find it plays better then css or hl2dm but maybe im bias. Maybe the nedxt beta when the current bugs have been fixed and the wall grabbing and feeding are done.
