Smelly Cheese

Last Sunday (fathers day), my father in law was given a cheese by his son.
I had to hold on to the cheese on the journey home, and it was impossible to keep the smell inside the 2 plastic bags....the little peugeot 206 was filled with THE MOST DISGUSTING SMELL OF DECOMPOSING BODIES.

anyway...today they could not stand it any longer, and I inherited the cheese.

The packaging consists of a wax paper wrapper, and a circular wooden box.

it's from sainbury's.

it arrived, straight from their fridge,  inside a tupperware container.

the smell was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING....No, honestly....I cannot BEGIN to describe it....I was a Firefighter for 25 years and dealt with some pretty stomach churning things...and this is off the scale!

Atm it's in ANOTHER tupperware container, in my beer fridge.

The wierd thing is.....it tastes ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!

I can't leave it alone...it's soooo nice

That's one of them French cheeses. The more it stinks, the better it tastes....
It has something to do with bacteria, not sure how to explain, I think Sadako might explain it better.

4 the rest, try the Dutch cheese I might bring to the LAN, really excelent stuff (not smelly @ all).

I'm with you - I love smelly blue cheese

The smeggier the better. It does smell goddamed awful but is so tasty.

Cheese malodor is the same as feet malodor, caused by the same processes.

Bacteria breakdown the fats in the cheese or in the sweat, producing smaller smellyer fats

Also sugars are broken down producing lactic acid which smells, and is the same stuff that makes your muscles ache when exercising to much

Oh and dont forget the production of H2S, oh yes
