How to breach the FSB max on an XP2100+ or higher CPU

I've been thinking of picking up an XP2100+ CPU to experiment with some serious overclocking and been trying to read up on some of the problems that have occured with mobos being unable to adjust clock multipliers over 12.5.  In the middle of all this I came across a really neat article that describes both the problem and the solution really well!

As you can buy an XP2100 for <£80 the thought of tweaking one with some Corsair PC3500 DDR RAM has been increasingly intruiging
Maybe by the time the LAN comes round........

BTW - whatever you do, DO NOT buy an XP2200+ if you want to do any overclocking - it runs hotter than hell and will melt at the first sniff of you starting to wind it up.  Same thing goes for the newer Pentium 4 CPUs (3GHz+) - these new Intel beasts throw out gargatuan amounts of heat, more than the equivalent AMD would - now that's another Intel first  :lol:

My cpu (XP 2700+) is running at around 47deg under full load and 42deg idle. That is with 19deg ambient and the stock cooler.

They don't run that hot if you're sensible with your case interior.

I find that the HDD throw out as much heat, and a fan in front of them helps immensly

Sorry if I wasn't clear, it is not anything faster than 2200+ CPUs that have the heat problem, it is THE XP2200+ that has the heat problem.  Anything faster or slower will not be as hot as that little SOB.
