I moved to a new appartment recently and I am seriously considering going for a wireless solution for my network. Anyone in here have experience with wireless routers etc?

I have been looking at the Netgear WPN824 Rangemax unit. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Is there any lag issues when playing online games over wireless?

I know that some of the netgear models (and for the life of me I can't remember which ones) were criticised for only having a single network chip inside them as opposed to most other models which have a chip for WAN and a chip for LAN side. The single chip solution was deemed to be a security risk by many as the two segments and the firewall rules all operated on a single controller.

On the latency side I don't think many of the modern chipsets have much problem but don't expect these 108mbps speeds you see advertised unless you are in the same room.

the newer Belkin "pre-N" kit is highly regarded I believe as it gives good signal strength and high speeds even in difficult circumstances.

Whatever you get, make sure that it can support your huge WAN side bandwidth (no point in getting a router that can only cope with 8Mbps when you have 26Mbps)

The KCorp range of kit is currently on PCPro's A-List and has been for about a year so may be worth looking at it.

PC Advisor has an article on wireless routers this month - might help.

The Belkin got top marks in the PC Pro review I posted the link to above. It lost out only on price to the KCorp for overall best value.
