For those who do not know Raven Shield is  the latest FPS in the Rainbow Six franchise. The unique..ish feature of Rainbow Six games, and this one in particular, is that you have seven other characters that you fight along side. Before the action begins you can select the players, equip and arm them,  split them into smaller squads and then set up some detailed tactics for you all to follow in order to complete the mission. The mission might be  rescuing hostages, killing a target or such like.

Obvioulsy the critical thing for Ubi-Soft, the game desginers, to achieve is creditable AI for your team mates, especially those in other squads from yourself. You are going to issue them with a set of waypoints, timings and actions, so it's very important that they are sufficiently bright to be able to complete them. Yo're unlikely to complete a mission if you go solo.

So for instance having them all get bunched in a doorway and stuck for ever, or having one player blow his entire squad up because he can't throw a grenade through a door properly, would make for a very poor game.

If this was to happen then it would make the whole game a complete waste of time.........

Oh dear Ubi-Soft you appear to have dropped somthing of a bollock :(

Steer well clear  :!:

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

The bollock isn't so big when you play online. Fabulous graphics, it's like a cross between UT2003 and our own dearly belove CS. Kills are more realistic in that if you hit someone with a couple of rounds from anything you kill them! You get out of breath if you run too long, get dizzy from gas grenades, ears ring when flash bangs go off and a whole bunch of other stuff. The pace is also less frenetic and more lifelike. No voicecomms though. :(
