Ahhhh  :D ... Rio. My favourite map. We have a friendly against cbm tonight and we need to kick their butts. ;)

Simple rules to live by:

1. Walk or crouch walk as much as possible.
2. Use the time on each round.

Rio is a small map and you will have time to save the hostages with 30 seconds left. Remember this as T also!

The wear down tactics apply on this map at all times.

One person can win the round even if outnumbered 5:1.

Terrorist
The tactics are rather easy as T. Do NOT stick your head out to peek. If you are in the house stay hidden and guard an entrance. If you go rouge outside I suggest the toilet/kitchen area. If the soccer area is clear go up the hill to CT spawn and move in behind the CT. A silenced weapon is superb on this map so change to a colt when possible.

Most important as T is not to take same positions every round. But also try to shift between agressive and passive defending styles to make the CTs take their time.

Smoke is very effective. Try and pace the smoke throughout the rounds to slow down the CT approach.

Use the cameras to view if anyone goes on the roofs or soccerfield

Underneath the stairs (on the first floor) is a too well known position for Ts. Avoid it if possible.

Counter Terrorist

First of all try to pick them off before entering the house. Beware of the T spawnpoints that can be very far forward. There is some above the toilets and there are a few on both floors of kitchen (white building). Watch out for rushing Ts. I have played this map on cbm and they usually go to CT spawn and camp there!

If you want to snipe shoot out the cameras quickly.

As CT I prefer entering at the front side. Why? Because you have 2 entrances on each floor and you can get good backup when approching.

Backdoor approach is more useful when T numbers are down as they have to cover more entrances.

Use distractions e.g. flash and don't go in. Smoke the house! ;) etc.
Wear down tactics work great as CT.

Saving the hostages

There are two routes to go. Backside and front door. I prefer front door as most go by the soccerfield. The front door is also quicker back to spawn. If many left create a diversion at soccerfield while rescueing through front door.

Front door also got many variations of path to the spawn. You could go via soccerfield if you want.

Spots to lookout for

1. Inside the little house there is a very dark corner and it is superb for surprise attacks

2. Just on the left after crossing the board from the toilet house you have a good spot to camp. Dark and your gun is not spotted.

Between the houses on the gound is a good spot also that is seldomly used. Needs a more powerful gun than a MP5 though.

3. Inside the toilet house on the bottom floor there is a small window that is breakable. CTs come here regularly to snipe the ground/second floor of hossie house. A good spot as T also but for surprise attack. Listen for ladder sounds or voicecomm about attacks on the backside of the house before you make your move.
Second floor is more dangerous as it is more known but the catwalk along the soccerfield is very useful.

4. Good corner that is seldomly checked. From here you can cover both soccerfield and the CTs coming down towards kitchen.

5. Behind the rock on the side there is a spot where you can hide if crouched. This spot only works once. Don't make it a habit. :D You should beware that CTs can access the rock without going up the small path from the soccerfield. By jump-crouching on to the rocks the CTs will come up between the water tower and the stone on the rock.

6. Also a very god spot if you get there in time. CTs never check this position.

Oh I forgot. As CT (or T) you can get from spawn to house by using the rooftops going along the green path. By the red path you can get to the small ledge on the toilet building.

As T, if you are by 3 or 5 at spawn then see if you can snipe the CTs as they come down to the soccer field.  Never snipe the soccer field from the 1st floor window in the toilet block that is nearest CT spawn (you'll get shot by a CT from the roof).    :2gunfire:

If you spawn close to the rear entrance of the house you can make the water tower before CTs come round the corner - but run fast  :D

I would nearly always try to have someone patrolling the roof.  Just be careful not to get to close to the front (stick to the rear of the roof) and you'll then avoid being picked off by someone below you.

Try to cover the rear route sitting amongst the copious quantities of ganja and trying to roll a spliff  :smokin:

Occassionally sit on the sofa on the ground floor.  If you are on the window side then CTs rarely look to the right (where you are) as they enter the building.

As CT, you MUST communicate.  3 Ts can out gun and out-sneak 8 CTs if the CTs are not talking to each other.

Go slowly.  Creep, crawl, peek and be invisible.

Clear and call clear each and every building.

Always check the kitchen, toilet block (top AND bottom) and call them clear.  If you have not heard someone call them clear, then assume they harbour a T.

This match should be a blast  :rainbowafro:
