Quote*Hotfix 3/06/07

  • The Druid ability Lacerate will now land a small amount of instant damage, causing it to generate threat against bleed-immune creatures.
  • The Druid ability Mangle (Bear) will now generate 50% bonus threat.
Additional explanation for these fixes and information on Armor:

We’ve taken a close look at constructive feedback provided on our Druid Bear changes, and are hotfixing the following changes today:

1. Lacerate will now do a small amount of direct damage to the target. This means it will generate threat rather than an immune message when used on bleed-immune creatures. However, bleed-immune creatures will still not receive the debuff from Lacerate. This should address concerns about Druids being able to tank in specific bleed-immune encounters.

2. Mangle (Bear) now generates 50% bonus threat on its damage. We realized that in reducing Mangle damage, we made it less useful as a snap aggro tool. This threat bonus moves it back up to almost where it was before the 2.0.10 changes.

In addition, we examined concerns about the best Feral Druid armor pieces being outdoor world quest rewards, and Druids feeling their tanking ability would not scale with better gear. We are adjusting superior and epic leather pieces designed to be used by Bear Druids and increasing the armor on many of those items, particularly raid sets. These changes, however, will not show up until patch 2.1.0.

And the other changes beeing made:

QuoteHere are the latest Druid notes from the live patch for 2.0.10:

Druids

  • When the duration of "Cyclone" ends, area buffs such as "Leader of the Pack", "Tree of Life", and "Moonkin" will now be correctly resumed.
  • "Bear Form" now grants 25% increased stamina instead of 25% increased health.
  • "Dire Bear Form" now grants 25% increased stamina instead of 25% increased health. In addition, the armor bonus has been reduced from 450% to 400%.
  • The multiplier on base weapon damage for "Mangle (Bear)" ability has been changed from 130% to 100%. In addition, the bonus damage has been reduced by the same ratio.
  • "Savage Fury" no longer affects "Mangle (Bear)".
  • "Savage Fury" no longer applies to "Maul" or "Swipe".
  • The critical damage bonus on "Predatory Instincts" reduced from 3/6/9/12/15% to 2/4/6/8/10%.
  • "Improved Leader of the Pack" can no longer get critical heals.
  • The armor bonus from "Moonkin Form" has been increased from 360% to 400% (to match Dire Bear Form).
  • The rage normalization equation has been adjusted to grant more rage.

Lacerate generates 400ish front loaded threat making it a viable tanking tool, eventhough it does a mild 25 dmg :D

Thanks for the info Bastet.

Looks like they did what I hoped they would do. I still don't like the -40 damage on swipe because of the idol nerf, but I'll get over that :narnar: .

Bastet

reported downside of patch: The ammount of lacerate dmg is very low, causing it to be sometimes blocked completely by mobs using a shield. Compared to old system, this is still preferd though.

Because it has some initial damage it can proc primal fury as well now.

Extra rage is always welcome.

With regards to mobs blocking it: the threat generated by power gain of a primal fury proc is exactly the same as that of the initial lacerate damage (both 25); your crit change will, in general, always be higher then the block chance of a mob, so on average it'll generate more then 25 threat per hit :narnar: .

Bastet

except the 25 dmg from lacerate makes equiv of 10-15 threat per point of dmg.

Welcome Dan, to the druid section of the WoW sub-forum :byebye:
In here we discuss anything that concerns this great class in the great game of World of Warcraft. From time to time, guys like Sandrion tend to go a bit too far with the number-crunching (you haven't seen nothing in this thread :narnar:), so when it get's to heavy, just close your eyes and think of a wonderful place (Nagrand is pretty good :flirty:).

For those of you that see Dan for the first time here, [post=179295]this thread[/post] might help out, and than in particular [post=179464]this post[/post] on the second page of said thread might help you clear things out even more :roflmao:

The threat part is static, just like the one of sunder armor. It doesn't have threat multipliers on damage (only Mangle has one now), so it doesn't matter if the initial 25 damage is blocked.

Bastet

Actualy i think it does matter, since if it doesnt connect (dodge/block/parry/miss) the threat dont get applied, and at least you wont get the bleed debuff on non bleed imune mobs.

In case of a dodge, parry or miss yes. When a attack gets blocked it still hits, but in this case for 0 damage. The static threat and the debuff should still be applied (unless they nerfed that as well  ).
