I think we need to open recruitment for priests.  We need them badly.

I took the liberty of moving Lucian's post into its own thread, as I think this is a subject that needs to be debated.

/*** CAUTION, LONG POST WILL FOLLOW, MAKE SURE TO TAKE A BIO BEFORE YOU START ***/

Just to start with a summary to Lucian's post and what I think about it: no, I think we shouldn't open up for recruitment for priests, and here goes why:

There is one reason, and one reason only why we *need* priests in the guild, and that is for when we are to start raiding. Even thought I noticed Drazila's thread "Let's to Karahzan", I don't see that happen quite yet. You can say: "we need to have priests before we can start to raid, and we can't start looking for priests when we are ready to start raiding", and that I will to a certain extent agree with. But the main reason why I don't see us raiding anytime soon, is that we don't have a plan. And without even having a rough idea on how we plan moving towards our first raid, it is useless to start inviting more people, no matter the class need.

To make such a plan, somebody needs to take the responsibility and the initiative to make one. I don't think it will be an easy task, and it will definitely require some effort, but somebody has to do it (and just to make myself 100% clear: I don't blame anyone for not taking such an initiative yet, let there be no doubt whatsoever about that). Such an initiative was shown by Drazila in the already mentioned thread, and this brings me back to what I suggested in another thread: I think it would be a good idea, if we find that we should aim to get at least one raid group up and running in any near future, to ask if Drazila would like to come back as an officer (and perhaps, with the special responsibility of raiding).

This also brings me back to the questions TL proposed in the other thread about this topic, which was: 1 -  Do we have a role for another officer that can't be filled by an existing officer? 2 - Is there a unique skill that the current group of officers is missing? 3 - Are there potential problems with an ex-GM and RL becoming an officer or RL again?

To question 1 and 2, the obvious answers should be no. We are enough officers to fill the roles required, and I don't see any reasons why any of us doesn't have what it takes to such a job - as TL said in his post: it is something one learn by doing. The problem here however, isn't that we don't have the manpower or that we lack the skill, but my comprehension is that neither of us have the time, or we don't have the desire (as in, you don't want to raid, you are in it only for the social part - which by all means is a totally fair reason), or we don't have the will to do it (whereas I choose to believe that the latter is a consequence of either of the first two). This is where I think Drazila could make a difference.

At this point I can say for myself, and this is something I think I've made clear all the way, that I don't intend to return to raiding anytime soon. This is solely because I with my current school situation don't have time to commit to even one night a week with a 5 hour raid schedule. My main goal with WoW for the time being, is to enjoy the leveling, socialice, and spend quality time with my friends. How much I wish I had the time to participate in planing and organizing end-game raiding for SOG, it's just something I don't have the recourses to do right now. (And this is something I would guess goes for quite some others of you as well.)

As for the 3rd question, my answer would have to be possibly. Now I don't know Drazila from a co-officer's point of view other than through what TL described in another post (and I don't have any reason to doubt that description either - but it is still just one persons apprehension of reality (no offence TL, but that thread about Redemption and their raiding showed how different interpretations of reality can be :flirty:)). I know Drazila from RL, and I know him to be enthusiastic and passionate about the things he care about, and his firm beliefs can make him a challenging person to discuss with (from my point of view, that's mostly because I've never had any real knowledge about the things we have discussed), and because of this I can also see the potential problem that TL tried to point out.

That said, I still believe that we as officers can work as a team and a democracy (yes, I know Gorion is really the supreme divine dictator here, but I believe that he is a nice dictator that listens to and care about what his subordinates :flirty:), and if we (for instance) were to get Drazila as another member, I am convinced we would still manage to work our way forward as a team.

I see now when I read through what I've just written, that this might seem like a post that is all about getting Drazila as an officer. It was not my intention to give this the main focus, but it worked for me as an easy example to use when trying to describe some of my thoughts about our current situation. I hope you can see through this :)

Please, everybody, share your thoughts about this topic (where the main topic is: what is our plan, when do (or if!) we wish to start raiding, do we need to and should we start recruiting, etc.), cause I think it is really important for us to get a good discussion going here :boxing:

hmm.. recrutment of priests.. we are now a social guild.. so that seem a bit unfair.. my opinion.. but time for recruting folks is comming.
but i don't think it should be class based, atleast not untill we got THE PLAN sorted.

Sujestion of mine would be, set a TS meeting, talk it through, and come up with a plan & way to implement it, maybe also a time frame? You can go about recruiting priests now (and any other class) but to be blunt, who in thier right mind would join a guild that is looking for priests, but has no intention of starting raiding soon? Now if a plan was up to start raiding on say the 15th, and you where a priest down, ppl would be more inclinded to join, since there is more on offer.
