Dumping a DV-signal to disk

This weekend we're having a uw-rugby tournament, and we're gonna have a camera running in order to stream the under water activities onto a projector for the crowd on land.

I have been given very little information about what kind of equipment we have available, so all I know is that it is some kind of DV-camera that connects to the computer via firewire.

It is desirable to be able to dump this signal to disk at the same time as it gets streamed. Does anyone know of a program that does this? Preferably a free one, and preferably something I can get the hold of within 18 hours

I'll try to get a bit more info out of those sitting on the equipment and post here if I get any.

Doesn't Windows Media Encoder allow you to archive your stream to disk as it plays?

There was somebody that told me that Microsoft Movie Maker would be able to do this for me?
I have absolutely no idea myself, as I never have done any video work at all on my computer :g:

Movie Mangler's more used for already captured video editing.

WME (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/encoder/default.mspx) can take a live feed and create a stream distribution point for WMP clients to connect to, I think there's a check box to record to disk too.

It's free and available within 18 hours.
