Hi all,

I'm hoping you can help.
Due to My Mrs Office closing she will soon be working from home 3 days out of 5 and will be using a mobile rather than a landline.
As these are primarily conference calls she could do with a decent headset for her Blackberry Classic.

She doesn't want in earphones or Bluetooth. One ear or two. Preferably a microphone boom not an on the cable job.

Any suggestions would be appreciated?

Hi Smite,

I'm currently using one of these for work. Compact and easy to stick in a laptop bag when travelling. The case charges the headset. Works fine for Lync etc.

I found that after 45 minutes or so it can be a bit uncomfortable or need to be repositioned.

I use these Sennheiser HD 471 A couple of concerns though. I use them with Android although I assume if the Blackberry has  a standard 3.5mm jack they will be fine. Also the mic is not on a boom but in the cable. However I really don't find this to be an issue and the sound is great. No one I've ever spoken to on my mobile has ever commented on the sound quality being off.

Alternatively Jabra make a vast range of headsets with 3.5mm jacks, mainly for call center staff or if you want to go a bit up market flash try the Office Headsets

I use their Bluetooth headsets but don't have any personal experience of their other ranges. They look pretty decent and have a wide range of styles.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Cheers Gents,

Ninja, she doesn't like the Prawn type for the reasons you said, it becomes uncomfortable and eats the Phone battery with the Bluetooth.
The Headset would stay at home so transport wouldn't be an issue.

Smilo, The Sennheiser and Jabra are similar price but i don't know what the Jabra quality is like.

I haven't mentioned to the Mrs that my New Steelseries 800's would probably work....... and i don't think i will :g:
She's already using my desk she's not using my gaming stuff as well :D.

I use this one at work (monoaural).  I'm annoyed very easily, and these manage to stay on.

Output is clear and crisp, and the boom rotates so it moves out of the way.  There are also cup replacements so you can opt for leather PU cushion instead of the standard foam.

There's a voice cancelling option, which is the one I use.  So someone in the room speaking isn't heard over the phone.

Thank you Gorion.
Does it need an adapter to fit specific mobile phones?

Gorion

My set has a quick connect cable with a answer/hangup button for use with VOIP phones, then it terminates to a 3.5mm jack.

Not sure how it comes packaged by default, as mine was provided by HR.

Perhaps ask Platronics support about how it's shipped?

You're a funny guy, this tickled me. All I can picture now is a headset slipping constantly off your head.

I tend to prefer a headset that has an RF wireless for better quality over distance, even in the kitchen etc. bluetooth sucks.

I meant that most headsets last a couple of minutes on my head cause they annoy me.

Headsets slipping off would be quite the thing, especially since I'm bald. Head lube would probably do that.

It's a product for the hair impaired. Makes the cue ball shiny or matte, depending on individual tastes.
