so, Steam suddenly asked for a PW, some three years or so after I last used it. Couldn't remember it. They said they sent an e-mail, but I have not received it. Could be, they sent it to an old e-mail of where I then worked, which is not active anymore.
Any idea if there is a chance to reason with them?

And this, kiddies, is why I use a non-works or ISP linked email address for signing up to anything where they might email me my password if I forget it ;)

Hope you get it sorted dude, but I suspect they will say that if you've not kept your email address linked to Steam up to date for when you need a password reminder then you're stuffed :(

Try doign the password reminder thing again? Maybe it didn't register the first time around?

From what i've gathered and piecing it together, Steam recognises when a computer has logged onto it before, anyway to cut a long story short, it seems the password may be encrypted in the clientregistry.blob file in your Program Files\Valve\Steam folder, so delete that first then try logging on again. If that doesn't work, make sure there's still no clientregistry.blob and then try reinstalling Steam, it should hopefully work then.

I've contacted Steam and await their answer. Strangely enough, I received confirmation of my question, but not a reminder of my pw

EDIT:
You could all see me on the tourney, which means STEAM supplied me with a new PW (shhhhhhhhhhh), claiming my account could have been hijacked.
All in all, it took them about a week but it was solved in a professional manner.
