Meh, that vid was actually pretty dumb, considering certain facts about american law. It's in no way a "harmless legal protest" if they break the law in the process, which they did (by riding their bikes where it is prohibited by law:rolleyes:). Only legal grounds they had at any given moment was when the cop tore up that one guy's poster, as it was his (private) property. Taking away those kids' bikes was simply police officers enforcing the law, nothing really to protest against, albeit the arrest of a 12-year old boy does seem rather over-the-top.

Apart from that, saying that you are, as a bike rider, being "discriminated aginst" is, in my honest opinion, pretty stupid.

The comedian immitating Arny had me in stitches though :lmfao:

I don't think that tohse guys are so stupid when they protest a bit against those dumb American laws:g: Americans make laws for every single little thing that might disturb someone and I think that it's a bit too much:eyebrow: Why the heck can't those guys ride with their bikes on the streets?? What have they done wrong?? It's the same thing, as why are you allowed to walk on the streets:eyebrow:

Riding bike on the streets is o.k.
They get arrested for riding them in places where they become a problem for pedestrians and other people (riding at public spaces), proven by the fact that the arrests depicted in the video all took place on the streets. Also, regarding the skate-park, it was in fact just that, a skate-park. If it's rules prohibit riding a bike on it, they have no right to protest that decision, which was made either by the park's owner or the city (if it was a public park, which it probably was). There are plenty of such parks that allow bikes, but that one was aparently deemed unfit for bikes, as it would probably keep the skaters from using it (bikes take more space). What they could, and probably should have done would be demand a park for bikes, or having the existing park expanded to properly suit bikes.

What they did was a fairly standard protest. Clever in the fact they invited a news crew to draw attention to the fact. But the police don't control the laws they just have to uphold them so having a go at them serves little purpose but to increase attention to the situation.
The risk of getting sued for providing an area for a dangerous could be the reason for the law, so they might take a lot of convincing it's safe. Harrasing the police might not have been the best way.
