One small practical thing though: I believe that we should leave it to one person alone to be in charge of the PayPal account - i.e. it will only be that person who knows the password and has access to the account.

In a hypothetical situation, one could have the case where some money went missing from the account. This could again lead to suspiciousness and discord, which is something we definitely do not want.
And just let me make it totally clear: it is not that I don't trust anyone in here - I trust all those with access to this section to be good and honest people - but when it comes to matters about money, I just would feel a bit more comfortable with this extra precaution.

The only thing this person would have to do, would be to keep an eye out on any donations that are made to the account, and update this in a thread viewable to our members - similar to the dMw Community Funds thread.
Could I perhaps than at the same time suggest Oth as a candidate for this, as he already has fiddling with it?


And as requested, suggestion for an announcement to the members:

Back in the time when SOG was close to be disbanded and lots of members left the guild, the dMw head admins decided that they would no longer like have SOG as any official part of the dMw structure. This would have resulted in us loosing our forum, our TS server, hosting for our DKP site and other things we depend upon.

Together with the admins, Gorion managed to come up with a solution: for a small contribution of £10.00 GBP a month to the dMw Community Funds, we will get to keep all these things that help make our daily routines so much easier. This includes a high-featured forum, which is easy to manage and administrate for the Officers, it includes a stable TS server for all our members, and hosting for things such as our DPS and sign-up site - all with frequent backup routines so that we never risk loosing anything. We believe this to be a fair price for very high-quality services.


We will make it totally clear, that there will be charged no kind of fee to be a member of SOG, and nobody should feel forced to pay anything. It would however be appreciated if the Officers would not have to carry these costs all on ourselves, so any contribution will be much welcome. £10,- devided on roughly 100 persons are almost nothing at all.

A PayPal account has been made which can be used to donate money to (details will be published soon). A thread will be kept updated by the Officer in charge of the account - this includes donations made, and when we donate money from our account to dMw.

Back in April, Gorion donated £130,- of his own money, so that we wouldn't have to deal with this matter in between all the other stuff that was going on at the time. This means that our forum is payed for until May 2008. The first £130,- donated to our PayPal account will be used to pay Gorion back this money.

@Gorion: Personally I really think you should get it back - it's not fair that you alone should carry this first year's fee. If it was only a small amount, it wouldn't have mattered that much, but £130,- is really a lot of money.
If you want to, we could set it at an even amount and say that the first £100,- is payed back to you. If you want to donate some large amount after we get the system up running, than that's your choice :flirty:

But as far as the paypaling goes, i can handle that. Just a question there, should we post WHO has made the donation, or keep it on the low? When i made the button thingy, i hook of for a "Optional information" field, which should let them input something there. Might just post that information?

AFAIK i will get a mail whenever someone desides to make a donation, so keeping the thread up to date, shouldnt be an issue.

As we are not requiring any contribution for anyone, I believe all donations should be anonymous. Something in the lines of how the dMw Community Funds thread is done perhaps:

Community Fund: £334.30 and $4.53

Changes:
Contribution to Funds from LAN: £583.65
Paypal donation received: £5.00 GBP
Less Paypal fees:  -£0.37 GBP
Net Amount: £4.63 GBP

The dMw Community Account now has a balance of £922.58 and $4.53

The $ funds are retained for the time being in dollars as there is a cost to convert to sterling. Should there be an opportune moment to avoid charges it will be changed.
