Hi guys, can someone explain to me how much bashing about in a race is acceptable..

I was on for my last race of the evening when a racer named evolution smashed into me and I ended up in the wall.

He started the race with a false start and bashed up everyone I thought oh well maybe a new racer but shortly after he seemed to bash me three times until I was too out of the race at this late hour to carry on...

watching the reply though it couldnt tell whether it was deliberate but it looks more harmless than it felt....

so where is the line?

I wish you were on Ventrilo. I had experience of him in T1 when he was all over the place and it was only superhuman driving that kept me from hitting him.:) I'll take a look at the replay in a mo, I wanted to respond to this first.
When I saw your message 'thanks a lot' I didn't know what kind of incident it was. I doubt if it was deliberate, probably pure ignorance. Wipe your mouth with it and 'onward and upward'!
Don't let it get you down mate, you do meet plonkers from time to time. We all have our moments.

We've seen some new drivers with inconsiderate driving with this combo. I have checked LFS World stats for a few of them, and many of them have done less than 1000 laps online. This guy is pretty extreme though, he has done 27 laps online, of which 3 on dMr. :)

I have a principle that if you have contact with somebody you shouldn't cause harm to him/her. If you make him spin, hit a wall, go off the track etc you are doing wrong. Actually I try to avoid contact altogether, then you can't go wrong.

I haven't seen the incident, but if you say he crashed you and made you go to wall, it sounds very much like his fault. But...it is easy to blame other people but when you see the replay I have learned couple of cases it wasn't actually his fault who I had blamed. So be careful who you blame before watching the replay. If there is such an incident, press '2' to save the replay (before the next race begins!) and watch it from different view points (from his car too).

About the race distance in lfsworld. Yes, partly true, but the distance can be misleading because it doesn't record demo races. Also it doesn't give a straight answer how much of that is done with other human racers.

EDIT: I think that is the general principle, but I can think 2 bit different cases. 1) rallycross. There is less grip (on dirt) and close racing with drifting many of the corners, you have to accept bit more contact than in normal race. If you watch real RC in TV you see there is contact all the time, but the priciple that you don't try to push people out on purpose is still valid. 2) banger races. You see this kind of servers sometimes. Not been in them but I think the idea is to have contact.

Jewelz^

he might not be used to our style in racing, i was on a server where everyone was going into me  but then that might have been my bad driving :narnar:
