I have not parsed the new BM, but I can only assume that it has reduced damage. Time to try something new. Personal, ranged DPS. Pet is out he window and I don't PVP.

How does this look?
There are 2 "loose" points, that I for this build placed in Piercing shots. I am considering placing them in Improved Hunter's Mark instead.

Not looked into it too fa rmyself at the moment either, but the comments I hear are still revolving around BM still being best dps in PVE and SV for mana battery fun.  At the end of the day you need to remember that hunter dps was scaling way too well, so the nerf has brought you back to being highly competitive rather than yesterday's insanely competitive!  I'll head over to EJ and have a read, I have a hunter in levelling so I guess I should know, but it will almost certainly stay BM for the moment unless I missed something cataclysmic in the notes.

I had a look at your profile on the armory and if your Hit rating is still 146 i suggest you take the points from Focused Fire and GftT and put them into Focused Aim,
that should bring you near the 8% hit needed to hit all the bosses.

And for Chimera Shot to be even more effective try and put some points into Improved Stings and Improved Steady shot.

I would do it something like this, http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/hunter/talents.html?tal=500000000000000000000000000353050312330132531350013515000000000000000000000000000

This is a better build in my opinion and your damage will be a lot more.

Our raid parses are still showing BM on top for dps fwiw.

It looks like my character could use some work in general, but mainly in regards to to-hit items and spec/shot-rotation and perhaps pet. Considering getting a ravager since i heard their focus-dump-abillity is better than wolves.
I might try the MM spec, but I think I'll have to do some research and read some stuff on Elitist-jerks to get a feel for WTH Im doing =)

There arent many items available from content we are currently targeting AFAIK that are valid for me, bar the pretty sexy cannon from Naxx.

As an aside, we are now seeing SV hunters who have got their head around the shot rotation pushing out marginally more dps now than BM hunters.

Had a hunter friend who's pretty good at his game flexing dps meters after the patch claiming Surv was uber now. He was top of the list over the BM hunter who was 5th, used to be up top before that most of the time.

I dunno if the difference is that big, personally I call the BM having a bad day, but it's very possible indeed :) Plus we get a nice little mana battery and raid utilities ^^
or Garrit, or Torgen. Also, Livestream.

I read elsewhere on the forum that they are considering the refresh-thing manabattery to be "mandatory" ( in the way that they design encounters as if you have it), so I guess that adds something in usefullness.

TeaLeaf

I think you might be recalling the Blizz statement where they confirmed that in encounter design they assume that the raid has some kind of mana regen available via a shadow priest or hunter for example.  It is by no means absolutely necessary, but it is a darn sight easier when you do have it in the raid!

Just to follow up on this thread as since it started I have got my hunter to 80 and been playing around with different specs.  I can confirm that SV is defintely the highest raid dps spec currently available.  MM is a little behind (and of course does not provide any replenishment), BM is now a fair bit behind.

In terms of SV shot rotation it is very different to the old BM steady shot spam.  SV needs you to prioritise shots in terms of what is available off cooldown and whether or not your sting is still up.  According to the Shandaras spreadsheet (available at Elitistjerks) the current shot priority order is:

Serpent Sting, Kill Shot,  Explosive Shot, Multishot, Steady Shot

You fire the first shot in that line that is available (or in the case of the sting as soon as it is no longer up on the target).

If you use this shot priority order your dps jumps up quite a lot.
