Gents,

Oldie raised an interesting point regarding comms. As the game is so comms -centric, should we actively kick users without from a full server if others are trying to play?

I'm drawn on this one, I agree, a no-comms team member is a pain in the ass, but do we want to actively kick regulars?

I think we have limited choices. Let's face it, if you can afford the game and the machine to run it, additional for a mic shouldn't be that much?

Thoughts?

The banter is central to what we are doing. BUT, I would prefer to tread carefully.

There are people that have no comms because their hardware is broken; not everyone can afford new hardware; I lost my job last August and haven't worked since and I couldn't afford a new screenwipe to clean my monitor at the moment.

I think we just need to try and push comms as the way ahead, maybe get people to realise what they are missing? Hard I know as you haven't met me ;)

Yeah, comms are more essential in L4D than CSS.

I suppose we have to keep reminding the offenders that the reason we keep leaving them to die is because they have no comms and we don't know they are in trouble, until we reach the next "open" area, this is what usually happens.

As BB says, the pinch is on and buying the game may have been a luxury purchase for them, all we can do is remind them that they are not getting the best out of the game if they haven't got comms.

I have two pair (of headsets Benny), but only because I saw my current ones at a bargain price for USB headphones. Otherwise I'd still be on my Audio 90's which are now my spares.

Maybe we could get sulky to donate his to them.

Does it really matter? The times I have been on lately alltalk have been on and the only tactics was typed in teamchat anyway. However, if you set one of the servers to no alltalk and mic required then the guys who don't have mic still has one server to join. Sort of a middle way.

I didn't comment on this before as I wasn't sure how the lack of VC's affected play.

Monday night was prime. I was playing with two people without vc's as it sucked (morbo and Riz I think). It was impossible to play effectively as a team went pear shaped.

This is one game where you are constantly in communication with your teamies. I'm loathed to think that we should actively kick people but those without comms should really think about sorting them..... it's critical to the game play imo.

OMG! I'm agreeing with Penfold! :D
I'm not sure how 'critical' to game play it is but it has to be a plus IF alltalk is off.
You can't go down the 'tactical' road and have the enemy hear your plans, that's daft. On the other hand it's a lot of fun having 8 people's banter rather than just 4. So, if you want 'serious' tactical play, alltalk off. If you want ourageous fun, alltalk on. In case you hadn't guessed, I'm for outrageous fun. :)

I'm all for no comms after tonight.
