Mathew Kelly bounded on the stage to introduce the contestants in ‘Star for a Night’ and
first on was Simon Smith. ‘Your name rings a bell’ said Mathew, ‘weren’t you due to perform
3 months ago?’. ‘That’s right’ said Simon, ‘but unfortunately when I was driving
here with my father’s brother we were involved in a terrible accident and had to be cut
free of the car by the Fire Brigade’.
‘It was so bad that they could only get me out by amputating both of my legs. To make
matters worse my uncle died before reaching hospital’. ‘What a terrible thing to have
happen’ said a very sympathetic Mathew,’ but I noticed you were able to limp on stage
tonight’. ‘That’s due to modern techniques in surgery’, said Simon, ‘surgeons were able
to remove my uncle’s legs and graft them on to me and as we were related and of the
same blood group within 6 weeks I was able to walk again’. That’s unbelievable, replied
Mathew, I’m so pleased for you’. Now Simon who will be tonight? ‘Tonight’, said Simon,











‘I’m going to be Simon and Halfuncle’.
