I want to swap my class 2 card in my phone for a class 6 (if classes actually matter  anymore). I basically want the best 4-8GB card money can buy.

I have been trying to find some reviews but either the tests are hard to find, not very good, or both. AFAIK DaneElec is the best to go for.

Usage: I reckon that because I have rooted the phone and used Apps2SD to move all my apps to that card (and because the image I have *should* have moved the OS swap space to the card as well, can't really find this to be true tho) the usage is more small files and less continuous read of single, large files (maybe except for movie playback and mp3 playback, but that can be done in adequate speed by any card)... so my approach would be to focus on that in tests... or am I wrong? (yes Kreg, take the bait)

Fastest I can find is this

SanDisk Mobile Premier Micro SD HC - 4 GB

Read: 10MB/s Write: 9MB/s

Well id go for a Sandisk or DanElec, its good generic manufactures where get good gear for the cash..

About performance on micro SDHC cards, its pretty generic most of the cards, arent that many manufactures, but the overall best cards are Sandisk premier, or DanElecs Ultra (got one of those)

about large and small files performance, as the cards are flash based the difference should in theory be none, as flash has again in theory near to no seek time.. so files should be as fast as big as there is no delay in finding the next.. (Tho fragmentation can occur)
but nothing ive actually thought about on SD cards.

about the classes, well the class of the card actually defines the speed.. Classes are defined by the SD association as min transfer speeds ;)
QuoteClass 2: 2 MByte/s - 13x

Class 4: 4 MByte/s - 26x

Class 6: 6 MByte/s - 40x
ty wikipedia ;)

So a 4-8Gb SDHC class 6 should be sufficient.. id guess

(havent spent much time on sd card performance reading ;) )

Yes, I knew the class ratings but with regular SD I also know that they have been surpassed. So I was curious as to how serious I should take them with MicroSD(HC).

I will try the Sandisk Premier and see how that goes, cheers :)

yeah i know the rated speeds by the class system has been beaten by far, but one needs to remember the class ratings are minimum transfer rates..
an the rates apply to microSD aswell
