Seany

Well I didn't do a whole lot of racing but it was a frantic race.  Qualified second behind Iron and ahead of Deetz (talk about a pressure sandwich :)).  I got caught out into turn one and almost rear ended Iron, taking evasive action by going onto the grass.  I rejoined in third and put the boot down to catch the first two back up, which I did after a lap or so.  Things
then went badly as Iron got all out of shape after the T1 section, both himself and Deetz lost alot of pace into the left-hander before you go under the bridge, I was a bit further back still and had good speed through the corner and almost got up the inside of both Deetz and Iron, however Iron got some oversteer out of the corner and came into the side of me with both us spinning off the track.

I got going again in about 6th or 7th place and started regaining positions, I was making a lot of mistakes though.  I seemed to have that trouble for most of the week when ever I had to race some one.  When I was on my own I could bang consistent laps, but as soon as I had to race another car I would run wide, out brake myself etc.

I caught up to Andy, who was second, and passed on the main straight.  I then made the inevitable mistake, dropping one gear too many to 1st and it flicked the car around, right in front of Andy.  Sorry about that mate, I watched the replay and I must say that looked quite scary from your view.  Very well done to avoid me, excellent evasive skills. This dropped me back down to fourth.  I chased my way back up to Dee and then made more silly mistakes once I got close.  I regained some ground on him and Andy again just before the pit stops.

Myself and Andy pitted at the same time while Dee continued.  Unfortunately for Andy they changed his tyres and I gained another place to third.  Despite my few couple of spins My tyres where fine (R1) for the whole race and where not changed (I set wear to 51%).  This helped with countering my mistakes as it seemed most people had their tyres changed.  While Dee was
continuing around, putting in some nice times, he had an encounter with "the" wall, destroying his suspension.  This got me back up to 2nd.  Unlucky Dee, I don't think I could of caught you with out that incident :/ .

And where was the Deetz?  Well, despite being absent from long racing and LFS for quite some time, it was no bother for him to jump back in the hot seat and take the race win with no less than a 29 second lead over the next car, me :). Most impressive mate.  Congrats Deetz! :yahoo:

Lameduck

Excellent turnout with 13 qualifying and 12 starting. :D
I was on the back row but managed a couple of places after the battlefield that was turn one. I managed another couple of places when Aron and Evan had a mix-up. Ben, caught up in the T1 melee had made up ground by lap 5 and was right behind me. We had a great battle until lap 12 when he oversteered off on the last corner and pitted but our dicing had allowed Evan to close right up. He got past me on lap 16 but I held the gap to about 2 secs and then started closing until I got past on lap 21.
The shame felt by this young man at being passed by an OAP was too much and he lost it. :roflmao:
No peace for the wicked though, as Easyed and Obs were closing fast. Nearly half way so I pitted, both fronts were changed and Ed, Obs and a rejuvenated Ben went past.
Ed pitted next lap and came out right in front of me, so I was back to 8th. I presumed that  he had new cold tyres as he had a moment on the back twisty bit and I went past only to see him in the sand on the last bend, so up to 7th.
Dee pitted next (6th) and Obs  a lap later (5th) Dee soon got past me but had an off on lap 34. By this time Deetz was fast approaching and in an effort to smooth his passage I moved over to let him through and that cheeky booger Dee followed him. :taz:
Obs and I had another spat for a few laps but he had the measure of me.
Good racing yet again, well done Deetz, Sean and Andy on their pondominiums and to Ben, Obs & Dee for the great racing and to Steve for bloody minded persistence.

Congrats Deetz :yahoo:

Qualified fourth and was last and a quarter of a lap down by the first corner after trying to avoid a braking sharply Easyed. After a few laps passing some who had fell off the track, I caught Lameduck who was for the next ten laps or so, impossable to overtake. After half spinning coming out of the last corner I pitted early, coming out onto a clear track I put in some fast laps to see if I could leapfrog the halfway pitters... which worked :D I had a bit of a race with Obsolum until he span, then set my sights on CrazyR1 who was some twenty secs in front of me, I closed a bit but nowhere near enough to catch him and I finished fourth.

What a great race, quali went ok and i ended up in 7th which i was happy with:)The race started well with everyone getting through T1 & 2 well & i picked up a place or two then under the bridge there were cars spinning all over the place:sad:I found a clear path through & put my foot down(so to speak:rolleyes:)Had a battle with Dee which was most enjoyable.Next i had a battle with Seany who was taking chunks out of my lead every lap till i missed a gear coming onto the start/finish straight & he passed me only to hock 1st in T3 & lose the back end(scary moment)Then i pitted & changed all four tyres so Seany re-took me to place me in 3rd.After the pit it was like hot lapping but still great fun.:D
Wel done Detez on your win.Great combo loved it:yahoo:

Qualification was great, I was really happy that I could grab the pole in the last minutes by doing a PB. Everyone at the front had very close lap times, so I knew it's not gonna be easy, but I didn't expect what actually happened. I was all over the place, maybe it was the tyres (I used R1s all week, but decided to use R2s before the race, their tempreture seemed OK), or me being unable to concentrate, I don't know. After the 3rd trip onto the green stuff I had to give up. Perhaps I should blame it on that wings and slick are not my cup of tea, but the short races were promising. Oh well, **** happens eh? Congrats to all who finished.

Ive been to see race control and they confirmed that Deetz did indeed have 4 cars out there, all of which came by me.:sideways:

R1s were fine all week, but getting a bit hot after 6 laps with my drving and setup.
That is when I screwed up my race :)

I decided to switch to R2s just before the race, bleeding the tyres a little bit.

That was not enough, I tried for a few laps but could not get them to heat correctly (despite a few spins). Then I met Mr Wall and considered this encounter would have sent me a few weeks in hospital, so I retired.

I decided to linger on the server and watch the action (secretely hoping to confirm that R2s were the cause of my failure, something to blame!). I ended up watching the whole race, good show from all of you, with an impressive Deetz driving on thin air and a very determined Obsolum, always to be found where the action was.
Special mention to Easyed, driving on ice blue R2s for a good while before quitting ;)
