It wasn't that bad was it? :D

Qualified 5th (I think).  Got a bit of a bad launch and lost a place to Ben at T1, but I got him on the back straight before the chicane.  Cue ball was up ahead of me with Romus, Venca and ED pulling off into the distance.  I was just thinking that myself and Cueball where in for a some close racing when he caught a bit of grass out of T1 and lost control, unlucky Bert :/ .

I continued to pull away from the cars behind me, while cars in front where pulling away from me.  I couldn't catch them so I just settled down for some smooth laps.

Just before the half distance I started to have trouble turning into left handers, couldn't go through them nearly as fast as earlier.  A quick look at my tyre temps revealed one rather blue front right.  I made my pitstop at half distance and they changed just the front right tyre, which was perfect.

Toward the end of the race the action up front must have been frantic as I soon found myself promoted to 2nd place behind Romus with Venca getting a drive through and ED doing a spot of lawn mowing.   Venca was too far down now to make a come back.  But an Ed, with the bit between his teeth, was growing ever larger in my mirrors :)  I held him off as best I could, but a mistake on my part after the tyre chicane gave him enough ground to be on my tail down the main straight to receive a nice tow :)

I finished third

Well done Romus, Ed .....and me! :yahoo:

thanks to everyone who came along, it's great to see such a large grid!

Romus

I was happy with my quali result and could have a fight with Venca early in the race. Ed of course had his own speed and went his way, but me and Venca were having same speed. I managed to stay ahead of Venca from the start, but was expecting the inevitable to happen, so I went wide after a few minutes and Venca passed me, but I was following him closely. Being a bit surprised that he could not increase the gap I started to look for opportunities to regain the 2nd place. I could do it on the outside on T1 if I remember correctly, not the most probable place do it, but it worked. Then I could increase the gap a bit, it remained between 2 and 4 seconds until 30 minutes mark.

At half the race Venca was suddenly 13 seconds behind and I had not seen him pitting, so I thought the second place was secured. And a few minutes later I saw Ed dropping in the position list. The rest of the race was just safe driving with a decent speed.

Though the result was good the race this week was still not as entertaining as the last two ones had been. FOX on South City next, that's not gonna be easy.

Two hour races on the trot and finished both. How bad's that? :D Kept company with Oldie for a few laps until he got bored with going off. Top tip for avoiding lappers, cheers Olds. :thumbsup2:

At risk of being called a condescending scouse git, well done Doorz :D
Qualified 8th out of another great field of 16.
Soon worked my way down to 10th after a few good battles, with Bert in particular. Fueled for the whole race, my pit stop was only a few secs to change fronts.Went off the track whilst letting a leading car through under blue and dropped to 11th. I was slowly closing on Verner but not enough to claim the last point, but then he also slowed to let someone pass and on the last lap I managed to get within a second of him.
Feeling sorry for an old man, he kindly braked and moved over on the last bend and let me claim 'MY' point. Thanks Verner. :D
Well done Romus, (thats the last time I give you a set-up) and Ed (who's set-up it was) and Sean for a splendid race. Congrats to all who finished.

You where clearly faster than me, and had much bad luck in that race so you had actually earned it. No actually, my tires started to loose grip and I had to slow down a lot to turn in. Thats why you got me.  Good Race! :D

Mille Sabords

I took some time in the short races this week to find a setup, and found something interesting offline 10 minutes before quali...
I spent my time looking for a set that would feel good, not necessarily fast, because my experience of downforce high power cars is close to zero :D and found a set that got rid of understeed under power after many trials.
I guessed it would run 1 hour as it was labelled "endurance" and... it did!
R3s front, R2s rear and 72% fuel. I tried a few full tank laps in quali after setting up a decent time, but underestimated the dedication of you lot, went from a nice 5th to 11th I think during the last minutes.

I had a good start (madman style) and got back to around 5th after 1/2 a lap. Tried to keep up with the leaders but that was not a good idea... after 3-4 laps and some right handers drifting I had a left rear R2 around 130Ã,°C with a very unstable car.
I calmed down and went back running 1:35s for a few laps, until the tyres got back into orange brown.

That was around 20-25 minutes, then I could start pushing a bit more. Got some positions back, but locked all tyres going into pits so I had to be careful again. Grrr.

The second half of the race felt good as the tyres got thinner, I could go much faster into the right handers and the slight oversteer under power at T1 felt satisfying!
Ended up setting a lot of pbs and closing on Venca, but went mowing the lawn in the last lap before being able to pressure him.
I enjoyed it, and shamefully admitt it was my first complete 1 hour race with a GTR.
Congrats all for turning up and making this a large grid - would have been a boring race otherwise. Keep it up!

I was using the Trekkenfahrer setup from the setupgrid.net. So you can give me your setups in the future like you've done before :D.
