Quote/moonlanding for a lot of you but it came up this week.

tl;dr: AP debuffs on raid bosses are srs bsns. They significantly reduce boss melee and are crazy OP at reducing boss special attacks.

Q: Demoralizing shout tends to have a very minimal impact in most situations, are there plans to improve this ability?

A: I think by ââ,¬Å"most situationsââ,¬Â you must mean ââ,¬Å"PvP.ââ,¬Â Demo Shout has a massive benefit against raid bosses. Itââ,¬â,,¢s probably 20% less damage from a typical boss and literally like 50% against say Thorimââ,¬â,,¢s Unbalancing Strike. However, removing 400 attack power from a Feral druid with 9000 attack power, or a Shadow priest who doesnââ,¬â,,¢t care about attack power at all is of much more limited use. Monsters and players use pretty different combat formulae (which is one of the weird things about the old design of say Vindication). We would like Demo Shout to be more useful in PvP, at least against characters who rely on attack power.

A hunter used Beast Lore to show that Maexxna has 573AP. Further testing showed that debuffing this to zero reduced "white" melee damage from the boss by about 15%. Baseline demo shout/roar knocked off about 10.5%.

The CM comment about demo shout knocking approx 50% off Thorim's unbalancing strike suggests that the effects of the debuff are magnified in boss abilities that multiply melee damage (unbalancing strike, lightning charge). This makes AP debuffs much more important against bosses with physical special attacks.

I took a quick review of my spec and went with Vindication after reading this. Check to see if DMR keeps (imp) Demo shout and such debuffs up at all times, as it shows it'll help greatly =)

Utopia is a great debuff/buff tracker on the boss and also provides a visual graph of debuff/buff up-time at the end of each fight.  It helps massively check if the right debuffs/buffs are being applied and maintained.
