GDrive Is Coming!

As mentioned in the blog post:

Google Docs has the potential to become a great service for online storage, but it won't succeed if it only includes 1 GB of free storage. Microsoft's SkyDrive offers 25 GB of free storage, while ADrive offers 50 GB of free storage. Even Gmail has more free storage than Google Docs and its main purpose is not storing files.

I'm still glad we'll get an easy alternative for storing files, as I'm already a very happy Google user And I do believe the service will only expand to the better, given some time!

Too many alternatives offering more free storage than that. I might look into it when they up it. (It's not that I'll use 1GB quickly, it's more that if I'm going to adopt something I want it to be future proof).
Plus it doesn't appear to do anything as fancy as dropbox.

I'll be interested in seeing what it, but atm Dropbox is free and works fine for stuff I want access to in multiple locations, and I have multiple GBs uploaded to Carbonite now which seems to work real well.  If anyone plans to give Carbonite a go then do let me know as I can give you a referral link and it gives the referrer (me) and extension on my subscribed time.

Aye, it needs to mature. I presently have 20GB in DropBox across 4 PCs, so it has to be great before I change my behaviour

It would be nice to have a 'one stop shop' where i can keep Google Docs and other stuff in one place. However as mentioned Dropbox does the job perfectly well already. For hardcore Google Docs users it sounds a sensible option but me I'd rather have stuff on my local machines and laptop than just up in the cloud.

Good to see them going in the right direction though.
