Missions involving ridiculous distances

Is there any way we can cut down on the huge amounts of hiking/driving/flying required just to get within a k of the objective?

I got a bit disgruntled last night and stopped enjoying it, purely cos you had several minutes of travel before you could get remotely near the action. Especially if you finally arrived you receive a BTR round to the face.

Finally, can we have a go at the crazy all out mental war mode thing? I was having a quick play about with that before y'all arrived last night. Didn't really know what was going on, but it was so nice re-spawning and being pretty much on top of the action. And the firefights were awesome, with 3 or 4 vehicles and 6 - 8 people on each side.

i understand what your getting at as the mission last night did get a bit monotonous.

i think the general consensous was that the mission did drag on a bit and the constant traveling 4 clicks to survive for only a few seconds didn't help.

but i do think with the right tactical planning the mission could be more fun for all involved.

we have plans for that in the future, but for the time being i think we should go back and revisit some of the original missions that got us hooked on the game in the first palce.

the war vs mode was manic but i'm sure that we could get to grips with it. will look into it :)

My tuppence, I like the distances, not the huge ones, but the shorter ones. It encourages you not to die.

There were a couple of spells last night where I was alive for relatively long periods, creeping around, taking the odd shot and moving away again. THere's a certain buzz out of lying in the grass as an APC rumbles past, feet away.

At one point, it missed me by inches and parked feet from Liberator. I popped up and stuck a rocket up it before either of us got hurt. A really relief moment.

I don't like tabbing miles but I think that constant die/respawn is one of the reasons I tire of other games. This one has an incentive for you to stay alive.

We do lose some traction once we hit a stalemate against a BMP, but that's something that we 'admins' are working on with regard mission choices and squad management.

In essence, 'wot he said'
I had one incident which I must say was....invigorating. I'd driven a truck for what seemed 80 miles and got to a point where there seemed to be some action. There was! I'd parked up, got out and moved round the back of the vehicle. Bullets were pinging off the bodywork and kicking up dust. Trouble was, I didn't know from whence they came.  I backed away from the truck just in time to see it burst into flames! It was great seeing the tyres deflate as they were shot. :woot2:
While I was lying in the grass wiping brown smelly stuff off my uniform a bloody tank rolled by. Phew! he didn't see me. :norty: The god-damned BLT did though. He used somewhat more force on me than was strictly necessary I thought. :ranting2: Next thing, I woke to find myself in familiar surroundings,  with yet another 80 mile hike in store. :flirty:
