This is why I have no time for the arrogant gits at Apple or their over rated flawed phones. It seems Apple products cannot possibly have defects.  No, it's their customers that don't know how to hold a mobile phone properly! Sadly there's a mass of Steve Jobs drones who'll buy this rubbish excuse. I don't remember  anyone complaining about this on their 3GS or any Android, Nokia or Windows Mobile before. Clearly my Desire must be broken as no matter how hard I try I can't make it happen on my phone.

Shame on you covers this incident nicely. Glad I don't have such a thing.

The video really adds to the story as it shows a perfectly normal grip of a phone (or pda) in my opinion. If you cannot hold it that way due to loss of signal then it really is crappy designing on Apples part. I love the reply Apple gave them, it shows just how the nature of Apple is, just a bunch of a***oles selling overpriced stuff, who don't give a jack as long as they make money.

Plus it would have been incredibly easy to solve by covering the gap or the stainless steel band in an insulator to prevent joining of the sections from messing up the signal as badly.

It's also exactly how Apple show people holding the phone. I don't imagine Apple are used to their gold plated launches ending up as PR disasters. This will sit along side HTC and their never ending Hero 2.1 update fiasco.
