Well guys a fantastic run tonight id say, Halfus down one shot (i wasnt there for that so if any details need adding such as errors please feel free), Valiona/theralion also one shotted (details below) as well as chimeron One shot and Atramedes about 5/10 shots (again details below) and a short but fun attempt at Nefarian.

Valiona/Theralion - Abilities and groups were the fault of this fight with some people gathering with the wrong groups or standing in places they shouldnt and being hit by attacks that where to be spread amongst everyone, but aside from those 2 small remarks was a good attempt and GZ to sharp and Whitey on PHAT loot.

Chimeron - Whilst one shotted the fight was a bit of a hair raiser with us entering phase 2 with some people still only at 20% health, coordination between warriors for using aditional abilities (and new hence they were over looked) the rally shout to help in the bot shut down phase helped the fight, the only issue was that some didnt see the change in the phase and stayed close to him when they should have run, otherwise good attempt and GZ to demi for offspec loot.

Atramedes - Attramedes for the first 3 attempts was decent attempts (50%) with the wipes either occuring due to Searing flame or the gong user being dead (so still searing flame :D) for the next three we decided to use 2 people for the gongs eventually only needing 1 due to the rouge outrunning the beam in air phase saving us 1 gong per run however due to high sound/late calls/noticings these attempts also wiped, we then decided to spread communication out after a 4 man survivers attempt got him to 8% (GZ me nims Lynx and Sharpfang) at which point i took over announcements from Dreaman for Sonic discs and Breath/Searing flame due to him being a healer and havin to watch healing things as well as raid thing (being a melee you only watch yourself and the boss) with this increased coordiantion we got him down Smooooothly.

Nefarian - We lasted about 40 seconds GZ EVERYONE and we saw the basic part of phase 1 getting onyxia to 70% :D

It's well worth reading up on these fights in the Boss Compendium section of own forum as well, we have some valuable discussions in there that could save RGW making the same mistakes as RGT in the early attempts.

Arcticfire

I agree, they threads are fun to read but they take away the focus from the Boss Compendium thread. Discussions about fights should be there and those threads should be bumped before a fight(like I have done before). Also I like the optimism(lolwut) but Nef and Al Akir and going down yet. even if we get there time will be to short for now. As soon as we start DEing more epics we might consider extending lockout if we cant find a 3rd day to raid

vladic

ill be honest i post the videos here as some people dont explore the forums same as i do (i go all over) and the yogspot video is kinda superior in explaining due to a personal feel (cant explain it) and the reason i put them up is simply because we have all seen/researched conclave so it didnt need homeworking again so added the 2 we aint done/seen briefly.

Main reason i do these is for RGW only so that we can see what that group itself did not just pick apart the bosseses with everyone (that dont sound right but only way i can write it)

vladic

i remember now, main reason i started writing them was to increase in group cohesion (working together what ever you wish to call it) so we cud see each others mistakes and compensate, i put them all in 1 report as if i scatter them all over on the compendium, as i said above some others dont search around as i do and just go straight to youtube so they would never see them.

Arcticfire

I dont think there are people who dont look up the tactics and actually learn them, if they slack they get or told by me, or get lynched by the rest of us.
Its pretty easy to see who dont know what to do.

So Id say we keep the tacticly things in the threads made for them and the fun review of every raid you make 1 thread or keep doing it like this, but I think it spams the WoW section a bit to much but thats for Jas/TL/whytee or someone else to decide.

Sithvid

I also think that only a core few in RGW actually use the forum I may be wrong...

If you post anything you like in the relevant boss thread in the Boss Compendium section then the results of your research will be easily found time and time again by other RGW members.  If your links are hidden away in a thread called "Rgw 16/05/11" then nobody will find them when they look for boss tactics.

The threads in the Boss section are there to collate information about a specific boss, not to tell you that the Tankspot tactic is the only way to do it.  So please feel free to post in them (use the [youtube] tags we have on this forum to preview the video window in the post too!).  RGT do not follow Tankspot tactics, we review them, review others too, discuss the issues in the boss thread and then work out our own strategy that works for us.

Frankly, if RGW members don't use the forum or go to Youtube first when looking for boss tactics then we've probably got the wrong people in RGW.  First stop should be these forums, then reading around the topic by visiting other raiding resources.

I can only speak for myself.. since Im under the curse of Cata and melee is not wanted.. I do spend most of my time raiding outside the instance.

but I do read and look up things. but since Im not always in , (often due too many melee) so I do miss out on to see the changes that the group does in tacts..  and in the end I lack of experience how things works and what to do.

ofc its boring to explain or hear tacts if you been there before, but sometimes its really needed so the whole group knows what to do ... if you ask if I seen the video. my response is. yeah I seen it..  but if you change some tacts how should I know what to do then?

if someone makes the wrong move say that but add how you suppose to do it also.. and if someone do good. (and not just high DPS) say that too. it boosts people and that is good for group in the end :) :D

That's a totally valid concern Pals, seeing the video does not necessarily tell you what the raid does in the instance, particularly if tactics have been tweaked to suit our own raid group and you've been in the raid queue rather than practising the amended tactics in the instance.  That's one of the reasons why we encourage RGT members to remain in the TS channel so that they can hear the 'rhythm' of the fight and can adjust quicker once you do get in.  It's no substitute for the actual experience of the fight, but we find it does help to have listened to others wiping on a fight, analysing and then developing the refined tactics. That's also why one thread per boss, such as in the Boss COmpendium section, is a benefit, as individual amendments can be discussed in there and picked up by all concerned.

I read almost everything in the DMR section of the forums. I just reread and browsed the Boss Compendiums. For the bosses we have done sofar, the threads contain hardly any additional information from guild members.
Chimaeron is the exception, but what I (re)read there started to make sense after a couple of wipes and reaching P2.

So no, for these bosses the Boss Compendiums are not my starting point. And yes, I've seen videos. WOWpedia has multiple 10 and 25 videos at the end of every boss page. And Marks 365 has specific hunter tips. Those were my starting points for the last new boss kills. Then I need experience, and then I start to search for more information.

And I wonder if I ever will get through 8 pages of Cho'gall discussion :sideways:

And yes, I intend to add some remarks from my perspective as ranged dps as soon as we have the fight on (semi)farm.

TeaLeaf

Keep in mind that we lost all of RGT boss discussions when forum rollback happened.   There was a lot of contributions in there :(

TL people know my reports are here, i even said so in Raid chat and TS before i type them out so people know they are here and i know the Compendiums are the main boss tactics place but that isnt what these reports are, its for RGW (JUST RGW) to congradulate each other, maybe spot OUR mistakes etc so we got a nice little post to read/write on without everyone else who wasnt there commenting also

TeaLeaf

I hear what you say, but if it relates to boss tactics then it would be better in the Boss Compendium section, otherwise it will never be found again.  If it's a rah-rah commentary then that's fine in this section.

Note:  when I say relates to boss tactics, I'm talking about changing what you do for the boss from what is written down in the Boss Compendium.  If you're commenting on how poorly people executed that then that falls under the 'rah-rah' imo.  If it comes down to a tip to make sure the tactics are executed properly, then the proper place for the tip is in the boss compendium imo.  Otherwise what's the point of trying to have a boos compendium in the first place!
