So I am taking the Mrs to Wembley tomorrow to see a concert and as its costing me a fortune I would like to take some nice pictures.

The stadium policy is that no digital recording equipment is allowed, but it also says any picture taken are copyright of Wembley, so that is BS.

I am wondering if anyone has first hand knowledge of security in Wembley? I have had a good look on the net and most people have said it depends on the staff on the door at the day if you are allowed to take an SLR in. Many people say yes, but there are a couple of people who claim to have been refused entry. I am tempted to take my SLR with a 17-50mm lens as my 200mm may be taking the **** somewhat.

I dunno if its worth the risk as I would rather not have to leave a grands worth of equipment outside the ground.

I will be taking a compact no matter what, as no one has been refused for them and apparently they are encouraged during some gigs.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Penfold

My wife went to see Take That at Wembley on Saturday. At some point there was a risk that I would have to go as someone dropped out. However luckily a replacement was found :)

That said she said loads of people had cameras. I suspect, however, they're going to less favourable on you with your big SLR and someone with a happy snappy camera.

Have fun though!

A Twig

I went to watch a rugby game, my sister had hers, got refused, so we went out, hid it in the bottom of her bag, and went back in a different gate, then all fine.

I am really glad I didn't take mine as people were having theirs confiscated off them. You couldn't leave the ground either as it was an electronic ticketing system and it wouldn't let you back in.

There were alot of very annoyed people who on the way out got told by the person who took their SLR off them that "they didn't know where it was" and to "go to customer services" where some other ******** has already nicked it =(.

It seems that a concert is very different to sport as I always take my SLR to Twickenham with me and never had any issues =).

Twickenham is generally pretty relaxed about people taking stuff in. Just as long as you're not trying to take alcohol or anything dangerous.

Alcohol wasn't an issue for us last time as we stopped off at the o2 tent for our free cans of beer, pie and mash and program (one of the few perks to being an o2 customer). My camera bag wasn't searched either, just walked right in.

Other time I have taken booze in too with no problems.

Saw one guy take in an oldschool 2 litre glass scrumpy-cider bottle (with the 2 little handles and a proper cork) full of what looked like his own homebrew once.

I love rubgy =).
