OR better yet, drop mining and keep jewelcrafting as it's more flexible.
I can always mine on an alt if needed.

I'm an Engineer/JC and I'd do what you suggest and drop mining. Gathering professions are better on alts in general.

Is that an old post as we don't get the rocket boost anymore

I also think that you prob should go engi/Jc, I'm engi/mining myself but I'm to lazy to lvl up jc myself so cant be asked

and now a days you can have both engineering "enchants" and normal onces

It's also worth pointing out that the High Powered Bolt gun can interrupt from range. Although the mechanic is rather clunky - targeting recticle vs the player target, it will be hugely valuable when you know you need to interupt and in the case of a blood DK you're out of runic (and not specced mindless winter) and your blood runes are on CD.
