Had our first full night of learning on this one and baby steps was the order of the day.  17 tries and we reached P2 transition into P3.

P1
No trouble

70% Transition
Amost no trouble - group needs to be split in two with a swing dps group to sag to the overload side.   Both groups need to assign 'middle' dps priorities.

P2
Now pretty stable, but we're losing people to poor movement not the adds.
Essential for people to monitor seed timer and move on exactly 2.00 seconds to go from the left group up position to the right group up position.
Ranged AOE should macro target the Molten Elementals.
We ALWAYS used a healer CD here along with a DG to survive.
Righthand side after first set of adds is always 3 x WiF then a Smash.
Lefthandside after second set of adds you need to watch desecrated ground when avoiding WiF.
Successfully managed to get Ragnaros below 40% and to trigger the transition before having to suffer a third set of Molten Elementals
If we stop losing people to poor movement then this phase is stable.

40% Transition
Scions picked up fine.
Adds are as per previous transition.   We bombed out on our try in this phase as we had seriously nasty Sons positioning and got blown up.

P3
Not got to this stage yet, but looking to do a 'box 4' positioning with the 4 corners having people in each.  Melee-----Tanks at front, Range+Heal-----------Ranged+Heal/MTHeal at back.
Each corner will have someone assigned to knockback meteors, should allow steady knockback throughout.
We'll probably Time warp through this stage.

10% Phase 4
This is the bit we're looking forward to and want to get into asap:

Kite meteors towards entrance of platform to give us as much time as possible (they get rooted for a short period when in range of newly spawned NPCs)
Breadth of Frost mitigates Superheated.
We'll use a triangle positioning for Breadth of Frost to avoid the >3 in a group triggering geyser.
Assign someone to knockback meteors.
Kite boss into Roots to stun for 10 seconds when he starts his 5 sec cast & 5 sec duration Empower Sulfuras (damage taken bonus here).
Assign someone to Cloudburst (immune Superheated) to run around and put out Dreadflame.
Kite Meteors into spare Breadth to dps and kill

The routine should run something like this:
1st Breadth - triangle, Deluge, Trap
2nd Breadth - meteor for dps to kill
3rd Breadth (spawns as first disappears) - Trap (Emp Sulf)
4th Breadth - meteor

Ranged DPS:
We need to work on maximising what we do here so do some research to see what is best for your class.  Across all tries we saw the following damage on the Molten Elementals:

Teaell    11927433   32.1 %
Guru           7192332   19.4 %
Incéndia   5705584   15.4 %
Whytee   4211668   11.3 %
Zaul           3297732   8.9 %
Halbarad   2270486   6.1 %
Jesung   2251762   6.1 %

These figures will be skewed, for example a couple of times I know I was one of last up and dpsing a new set of adds, so take the difference with a large pinch of salt, but it does highlight a trend and we need to get as much AOE damage on these mobs before they start melee on us.

Good work everyone, I'm looking forward to next week and pushing this fight into P3 & P4!

Well, we finally got to Phase 4, just.   And got him down to 48% from 50%.  That'll teach him to mess with us.

I think we need a bit more serenity in P3 and a lot less panick.   The longer we take in P3 the worse it will get in P4, so we need to remember to BURN BURN BURN on the boss to reach 10% ASAP in P3.

Next week maybe so Ayla can go all Deluged on us.

Well, what severely gimped our chances last time was a messy meteor phase. It seems the discipline required to stand in ranks (the triangle points, in this case) is high, but above all we should avoid messing with meteors if it's not our call to. Do you think having a person calling out which group should poke the meteor can help our cause?
Example:
Caller: green poke in 3...2...1...now! Yellow get ready for the next poke.
Caller: yellow poke in 3...2...1...now!Purple get ready.
and so on.

We already have a person in each group assigned to knock away.   We just need less panic, more trust and quicker feet to not die in fire.

I have just seen on the front page of MMO-Champion that the health of HC Raggy has been reduced to 63 million from 74.2 million on 10 man mode. Just thought that this would interesting to know as we have been trying the last few weeks.

Slightly off-topic, but here's a different Ragnaros, from a different timeline almost 7 years ago.   I thought it was an interesting reflection!

Quote from: TeaLeaf - 6th January 2006, 08:05 AM;108260Last night saw the culmination of many months of work in Molten Core.  Silver Oak Guardians managed a FULL clearance of all 10 bosses in Molten Core in 4.5 hours, including a Guild first kill of the ultimate MC boss, Ragnaros.

Lucifron, Magmadar, Gehennas, Garr,  Baron Geddon, Shazzrah, Sulfuron Harbinger, Golemagg and Majordomo Executus are all now on farming status. :D

Grats to all there at the first kill, including Dillinja (FATAL), Jeebus (FatBob) and me, Teaelle (TeaLeaf).

Sorry you had to miss this one Jas, it was a fantastic feeling when he died and that huge mace of his dropped and impaled itself into the ground.

Black Wing Lair, here we come!
