hi guys, its time to upgrade my graphics card from my extremely powerful 9800GT :narnar:

I have a limited buget of around £170 so was thinking the 560 would be the best option?  the only thing is when i look around there are too many choices.  As im a software man and know hardly anything about hardware im calling on you hardware guru's to point me in the right direction.  I have looked on Ebuyer and found a few that i think may be suitable:

and

Any help would be greatly apprciated (am i thinking about this too much maybe?)

What is the resolution of your monitor and what is the power of your psu?

Also what cpu do you have?  All can be a factor in the decision.

I'd save the £30 and skip the Ti. The standard has less cores, so less performance but head to head it is within about 10% in the majority of tests.

Put that £30 towards your next upgrade further down the line, a 560 will give you a significant boost for now and by the time you need to upgrade again it won't matter if it's the standard or the Ti.

(If the price difference was less than £20 I would go for the Ti though...so if you can shop around a bit you might get that bit extra performance)

Monitor res is 1680x1050, i only have 580W psu but the card requires 500W and i only have the basics to run.  The problem with my psu is it has no 6 pin connectors but i could get around this by using the 2 four pin connectors that are spare by using a 2x4pin to 6 pin adaptor then from that a 6 pin splitter.

CPU is AMD Phenom II quadcore 840

No problems then. Any of the cards will be fine, personally I would get one of the TI cards but then I'm an advocate of get the best you can afford but I realise some prefer the opposite.

When I got my GTX580 I basically had a choice between the MSI Twin FrozR and the Asus CU, I went for the MSI in the end because it's smaller (thinking SLI later) but they are both good, QUIET (hate noisy fans)

cards that come pre-overclocked and I think the MSI cooler looks better, plus 3 year warranty.

If it was me I'd get the MSI, and if you do decide on that have a look on Overclockers, its £12 more but you get a free copy of the new Batman game.

Many manufactures throw in adaptors but you can buy them yourself at the same time as the card. The card can draw a maximum of 225W (3x 75W) so check how much you draw in the rest of your system, I imagine 580W is fine if it's a good brand and you don't have loads of HDDs.

I have the 580 ti with the frozir 2 and I would recommend it. I can run it at 1GHz core clock with the memory at 2400 plus. Its 570 performance for an extra £20.

My mate (registered as Sky on the forums) has these in SLI one with the noisier frozir 3 (which is a worse cooler) and one with the frozir 2. He gets pretty crazy performance!

Go for the to with the free Batman.

If there is everything more you want to know about the card let me know.

Sorry yeah shoulda said :narnar:

Went for the Gigabyte OC version GTX560 (came down to £150), just installed it now, havent tested it yet, im hoping to be impressed...

Doesn't matter much now I guess, but the Asus and MSI GTX560Ti were the test winners in this series. Those two were equal in performance, but the MSI has better/more stable cooling. So that is what I got when I needed a replacement card not too long ago. Works great.
