Patch fail

Rather than hijack another thread....

The patch 1.01 didn't help with my lack of working game. The install still fails when downloading the final update after installing from disc. The launcher then tries to download the 12 gig  main asset file all over gain. The one occasion I allowed it to complete resulted in an identical patch fail and another attempt to download the main asset file.

Plan B is to install it to an external USB drive (it might not run but it might patch and then i can copy the patched game back to the main HDD and run it, or that's the plan.
Plan C is to install a spare 500gig HDD to my game machine and install on that.

Plan D is to install to my second Pc which won't run the game in a million years but might install and patch it.

Plan E is find someone within driving distance and grab a copy of their SWTOR game directory and copy it to my PC. Worked for me once with WOW and the forums suggest it's a workaround for this problem too. We'll see

Plan B failed with an error in

Plan C failed as my HDD needs IDE cables and my PC only has SATA connections.......

Cheers but as I understand it there's something specific about my PC set up that means the launcher falls over when it tries to patch the existing install. Whether I use my discs or download the game from scratch the game will not update properly. SWTOR would have me believe it's something broken with my PC i.e. "we have no idea what is causing a minority of our customers to have this issue (I am far from alone) and so we'll blame their PC's and go count our money again".

What I may need is a copy of the entire SWTOR game folder with the patch in place. I can copy this to my PC, run the launcher and log in with my own user name and password. It worked for me once or twice some years back with WOW (thanks TL) on a different PC. We'll see how I get on with installing to a second machine.

Managed to install it to my other PC and copy the game folder across. Works a treat and am now well into the Agent/Operative storyline.
