I'm moving to Iceland...

For a 3 month Internship with rather controversial fashion designer Sruli Recht. I am a Product Designer and will be working mainly on footwear, accessories and well... products. So I doubt I'll be dealing with Whale foreskins and still born lambs, but it should be interesting none the less! You can check out some of this stuff here.

It does mean that a) I miss the LAN, and b) I'll be living in Iceland for 3 months.

Just wondering if we have any Icelanders here or people who may have visited/have a decent knowledge of Iceland who can give me some tips. I know Iceland is generally expensive, is it cheaper since the financial crisis? Just trying to establish what the living costs will be like as this is an unpaid Internship so this is all coming from my savings.

Also to you regular LAN goers who take their PC's on planes, is it difficult and cause many problems? I can see me getting there, pressing the on button and nothing happening. If I am to take it should I dismantle it and take it in the protective boxes? Or should I invest in a lap top before I head off?

Usually it isnt a problem, but some airlines require the stuff to be checked thoroughly and placed in a secure container of sorts. but not all

Delanvital took his PC apart and put it in a suitcase.
The thing you might need to watch out for abroad is the connectionsocket. When I'm going to the UK I allways bring a sort of adapter so I can connect it to the UK powergrid. Not sure what Iceland has.

Kreg, I was planning on taking most of it apart and keeping all the parts in their proper bags and boxes, maybe take most of it in my hand luggage except for the case and monitor.

Iceland is expensive but beautiful.
