Based on Beta info:

These dudes look a bit like the Lions from Trafalgar Square!
4 total adds, but only 3 spawn in any one instance (like first boss in BoT).

  • Easy pull, MD/ToT or Symbiosis to pull into position
  • MT tanks 2 Guards at all times - greater chance of no Guard swap
  • OT tanks 3rd add to side and 12+yds away (next to wall at side) - no energy regen
  • Raid stacks on red carpet in middle - triangle-ish)
  • Adds get debuff to Petrify (Red, Green or Blue, each add is that colour-ish)
  • In order to clear Petrification it needs to explode (Guards near another generate energy, when bar full kaboom)
  • Chosen Guard should always be with MT (tanks switch Guards if needed).
  • Healers be ready for the explosion and single abilities
  • Health pool appears to be shared, just dps one and they all drop at same time

Amethyst Guardian
The Amethyst Guardian gains energy when within 12 yards of another Guardian. The Guardian uses this energy to cast Amethyst Overload. If no other Guardian is within range, it instead gains the Solid Stone effect.
Amethyst Pool: The Amethyst Guardian creates a pool that inflicts Shadow damage every second to enemies who enter the area.
Amethyst Overload: Upon reaching full energy the guardian overloads, inflicting Shadow damage to all enemies and interrupting Amethyst Petrification.
Amethyst Petrification: The Guardian attempts to turn its enemies to amethyst, reducing the Shadow damage they take by 90% but progressively slowing their movement speed. Enemies who reach 100 stacks of Petrification turn to stone and cannot move or act.

Cobalt Guardian
The Cobalt Guardian gains energy when within 12 yards of another Guardian. The Guardian uses this energy to cast Cobalt Overload. If no other Guardian is within range, it instead gains the Solid Stone effect.
Cobalt Mine: Launches a charged cobalt shard at a player's location. After a 3 second arming time, any player within 7 yards will detonate the shard, inflicting Arcane damage and rooting all players within 7 yards for 6 seconds.
Cobalt Overload: Upon reaching full energy the guardian overloads, inflicting Arcane damage to all enemies and interrupting Cobalt Petrification.
Cobalt Petrification: The Guardian attempts to turn its enemies to cobalt, reducing the Arcane damage they take by 90% but progressively slowing their movement speed. Enemies who reach 100 stacks of Petrification turn to stone and cannot move or act.

Jade Guardian
The Jade Guardian gains energy when within 12 yards of another Guardian. The Guardian uses this energy to cast Jade Overload. If no other Guardian is within range, it instead gains the Solid Stone effect.
Jade Shards: The Jade Guardian fires shards of jade in all directions, inflicting Nature damage to all players.
Jade Overload: Upon reaching full energy the guardian overloads, inflicting Nature damage to all enemies and interrupting Jade Petrification.
Jade Petrification: The Guardian attempts to turn its enemies to jade, reducing the Nature damage they take by 90% but progressively slowing their movement speed. Enemies who reach 100 stacks of Petrification turn to stone and cannot move or act.

Jasper Guardian
The Jasper Guardian gains energy when within 12 yards of another Guardian. The Guardian uses this energy to cast Jade Overload. If no other Guardian is within range, it instead gains the Solid Stone effect.
Jasper Chains: The Jasper Guardian chains two enemy targets together. While the targets are over 10 yards apart the chains inflict Fire damage, increased by 15% for each second they remain apart. The chains will break if the targets remain apart for 15 total seconds.
Jasper Overload: Upon reaching full energy the guardian overloads, inflicting Fire damage to all enemies and interrupting Jasper Petrification.
Jasper Petrification: The Guardian attempts to turn its enemies to jasper, reducing the Fire damage they take by 90% but progressively slowing their movement speed. Enemies who reach 100 stacks of Petrification turn to stone and cannot move or act.

Shared Abilities
All four guardians have access to these abilities.
Solid Stone: When no other stone guards are nearby the Guardian reverts to stone form. While in this form it takes 90% reduced damage but cannot gain energy.
Rend Flesh: The Guardian rends the flesh of the target, causing Physical damage every second. Lasts 15 seconds.

And.... I have been updating myself on this boss. As I did, I found a little gem when digging a little into the boss mechanics.

"You NEVER have to have one pop without its petrify up if you always tank the one with highest energy next to the one with lowest energy. You can continue rotating the adds the whole fight and never have one pop that doesn't have to. My guild killed it today pretty quickly and just stacked for chains while moving the boss away from pools with the raid following. Tanks rotated the adds the entire fight and the only real damage was from the Jade shards the odd pool and chain tick.

If you only ever just rotate one mob back and forth you will have one overload when you don't want it to so you will have to constantly rotate between the ones with lowest energy until their petrify comes up. Oh also he is right they do not lose energy at all. The fight seems extremely overtuned if you do it wrong but once your tanks get the hang of it the fight should just fall over dead for ya."

Edit; Ive seen many comments on Youtube on how this fight has changed since this Fatboss guide was released.

TeaLeaf

Keys to this fight were taunting and timing of those taunts.

LEFT = tank on left, RIGHT = tank on right
LEFT has 2 adds, RIGHT has 1 add

-Tank 2 adds on one side (LEFT), the other on opposite side (RIGHT).
-be VERY careful of aggro until a Petrification target has been selected *and* the tank has solid aggro on it (not a problem after first cross-taunt)
-one tank has one add + Petrification target (LEFT), other tank has single add (RIGHT), taunt to get the adds to their correct side if needed
-on the first pull only, at 45% energy the single add is taunted in to the LEFT, the non-petrification add from LEFT is taunted to the RIGHT (it will hit 50% as the adds pass each other)
-first Petrification add then continues with LEFT to gain energy to 100 and cast Overload

....then, rinse & repeat this:

After the Overload casts:
10 REM START HERE
-LEFT pre-targets RIGHT's add and RIGHT pre-target's LEFT's non-Petrify add (the one that did NOT Overload)
-new petrification target is announced by bossmod

-if the new petrification target is on the LEFT (same side as the add that just cast Overload) then tanks do NOTHING
-if the new petrification target is with RIGHT, then LEFT & RIGHT both taunt their pre-targeted add from the other side.

-new petrification target reaches 100% and casts overload
IF BOSS DEAD STOP HERE, ELSE GO TO 10

When a Cobalt add had been selected for Petrification then Ranged DPS can run around clearing the crystal bombs as damage is negligible.

Healers, do not waste mana on dispelling crystal bombs unless the target is trapped with a void zone under them.   It costs way to much mana at this gear level.

Had our first play with chains last night.   Important rule for chains:

-do not be too spread as you need to get to your chained buddy PDQ to avoid death.
-stay with your buddy (<10yds) during chains
-there are 3 chains up maximum in 10 man, so if you break one it is likely to land right back on you, so don't bother
-if you HAVE to break a chain then ONLY do it under JASPER (90% of the damage is mitigated)
-try to have a default rule with your chain buddy for void zones, like "we'll go LEFT if one spawns under us"

Tanks might have made a change too, not entirely sure what happened as was not in the instance, but can it be confirmed here for the record please?

Tank change was that if the Guardian with petrification is the solo guardian at the start then wait until the other 2 are at 45% before doing the taunt swap.

So, want every one if they still haven't to have gtfo installed. I know you have warnings with your favoured boss mod yet gtfo is just win.

It was our 1st night there and getting bk into the "raid frame of mind". Moving from crap, dosing the correct target etc and we have a lot of room for improvement.

Currently the main problem is mana issues for the healers. So if we can avoid extra damage then obviously it's easier for them. It's a pretty basic rule for raiding......

Rule 1- Blame Jas
Rule 2- move from crap on the floor!

Dps needs to be upped also, my apologies I forgot to run logs but I think cynba had them once he joined. I know dks are op yet odd as Tonk was beating nearly every1, every fight.

Hope fully on weds we will have these down.

Any other pointers or how you found the fight then please post up as this is what the forum's for :)

^^Cynba ran Live Logs, so they were uploaded automatically after each fight. Thanks Cynba!

Regarding the taunt issue, remember that taunts equalise threat and provide a fixate for 3 seconds only, during which time you need to have built other threat on the target to keep ahead of the DK's diseases.   You can manage this by being aware of DOT timers and not not using hight threat abilities during the 3 second window to allow the other tank to build their threat lead.    If the taunts are crisp & quick then you should not see any issues.

Riggy

From a healing POV manna is indeed a real challenge with very high tank and raid damage.  As has been mentioned the GTFO addon certainly seemed to help with raid wide damage limitation (I stood in crap as much as the next person and being chained with melee is poop) and if this isn't reduced further we simply will not have the manna to continue to heal until the bosses are dead.  Took on board the advice to not dispell all the time people are stuck to conserve manna but its difficult to keep an eye on who is stuck or not when  helathbars have our main attention and we suggested calling, like we did for dispells on Hagara, if people are stuck and there is stuff on the floor under them.

Now that we have seen the fight we can be better prepared with cooldowns etc beforehand and a bit less oh s&*t button spamming.   But, first day back to raiding and we are all rusty and excited so I am sure Wednesday we will settle back into the swing of things and see dead doggies!!!

Correct, don't dispell unless they call for one as an emergency, at whch point they'll be using their health stone, an HP pot and personal CDs (right?!?).   They should not have got stuck in the first place and you have better uses for your mana!

Niel

To be honest....keep your mana and don't dispell. On our early tries i was dispelling regularly and it just ate my mana for little gain.

People should be Number 1 - Keepign out of crap...Number 2 - hitting something.....if they get chained because they are too busy on number 2...tough :)

Switchback

Aye I will be on dispels but only if some one is stuck (which they shouldn't be)

In regards to chains.... Need to be quicker on these to mitigate the damage. I want the dps running to the healers and not the other way round.
If the healer has to run, they can lose a top up heal and then as riggy puts it, hits the oh **** button to catch up. This then burns their mana.

Hopefully will get these buggers down tonight :)
