A teacher tells the class that unlike english, all german nouns have a gender, be it male or female. (Eh, yeah... about that, seeing as how this isn't an issue in english, we didn't learn the grammatical terms for it. Hope I translated this right.)
One of the students raises his hand.
- What gender is a computer?
The teacher isn't quite sure, so she splits the class into two groups, boys and girls, and have them come up with four reasons for why a computer is one gender or the other.

The girls arrive at the conclusion that a computer is male. The reasons are obvious.
- You have to turn it on to get it's attention
- It contains a lot of data it doesn't quite understand
- It's supposed to help you with your problems, but most of the time, it IS the problem
- As soon as you get one, you realize you could have gotten a better one if you'd just waited for a bit

The boys arrive at the complete opposite. In their minds, the computer can be nothing but female.
- Only their creator can understand their inner logic
- They use an incomprehensible language to communicate with eachother
- Even the slightest mistake is stored in the long-term memory to be recalled at a later date
- As soon as you get one, you start spending half your paycheck buying accessories
