Anyone played it yet?

I'm a massive fan of the original, albeit up to where the aliens came into it. There was something about it that was just thoroughly engaging before it became ridiculous. I've had a brief go on the new one and it looks and plays well, but it's just not right. I can't put my finger on it for some reason and am intrigued as to others thoughts. The story line is ok, Vaas as a character is fairly well portrayed, if a little sweary for my liking and the plot is just about alright.

The hunting piece is intriguing, then annoying. The inability to carry more than one weapon unless you skin 3 komodo dragons with your teeth grates somewhat, but you pixies will love that bit. Graphics are great, scenery is good, map is large and aside from a stupid Max Payne dreamesque sequence it's actually ok.....but something is missing. Am I too old?

Not sure im gonna bother. I thought the 2nd game was kinda annoying and since time is kinda sparse, im gonna stick to games i need to play atm ;)

I am thoroughly enjoying it. The role playing aspects are pretty reasonable, though I pretty much just levelled everything up fairly quickly before continuing with the main quest. Same with taking over bases or disabling radio stations. All the Assassin's Creed type things I cracked on with early on. The graphics are stunning, the game play is great, the characters are really well portrayed, and some of the sequences can be fairly epic.

They've essentially fixed the problems with the second game. There's no more infinitely respawning checkpoints, in fact you can take them over and get less enemies in that area. The driving is minimised by a better quick travel system. Guns can be changed around and customised more easily and they never blow up on you. They've added an elaborate takedown system so you can quietly take down opponents, and get rewarded for stealth etc etc.

I understand your point Benny about something being not quite right. I've got a feeling there is a plot twist coming on with the main character, I don't really want to give anything away but I'm getting a really bioshock vibe from it and hope it doesn't try and go for a plot twist that radical, it would be just as bad as throwing aliens in. If the game were a movie I'd be quite happy to sit through a good old fashioned revenge plot...we'll see.

Played it for about 2 or 2.5 hrs so far...The storyline is good if not a little predictable *group stranded on island get kidnapped etc etc* Graphics are amazing imo, enjoying it so far.

I've since completed it. Overall I'd give the game 90%. Graphics are great, gameplay overcomes shortcomings of the previous game. Story line and acting are more than passable for a typical action film. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to show off what a PC can do to a console gamer, or anyone that enjoyed previous games in the series.

I'm enjoying FC3, my only gripe would be that once you unlock some of the more powerful weaponry it becomes a little too easy.

Very accomplished game though, I like the fact you can choose to ignore the main plot and go off hunting tigers in the jungle with a bow.

I'm not very far into the game but the fancy weapons don't draw me I'm enjoying using a bow & fire arrows too much really.

My favourite aspect of Far Cry is when you attack an outpost or whatnot you can choose your own approach, albeit the camera-tagging system makes things a bit easy, it's still fun to create ambushes and C4/mine stuff etc.
They should have included things like bear-(man) traps or stuff like that to turn you in a Predator-esque killer.

I found I'd always approach them the same way. Snipe as many as possible. If there are any straggling heavies, take them down close up without being seen. I did a few in a full assault, and it was fun, shooting helicopters and cars full of reinforcements with rockets, but after I did a few for the achievement I couldn't go back.

I'm stuck on a mission where I have to escort a contact out of an outpost without him being killled I start it and he runs into a mine and gets blown up any ideas?

Can you lob a grenade and clear out a few mines before you start? He should be leading you across the mine field safely, not blowing himself up. Hmm.

Missions starts with me behind him & he runs off ahead while I try to take out the enemys who are shooting at us he runs into the same mine everytime theres not alot of room for error as this said mine is 50 Yards infront of mission start & since this mission I've stopped playing the game....
