For all Rooney's hype, he's not even close to being as good as Gazza was in his pomp.

Did anyone see the documentary about his fight with alcohol a few years back? The real tragedy is the way he was treated after his career in England ended, the complete lack of support for someone so obviously vulnerable. He essentially went from having a massive paycheck every month, and having everything (yes, everything you can think of) done for him by his clubs since the age of 16, to no income and having to learn basic things like how to operate a washing machine overnight.

Speaking as a neutral, never having supported any side he's played in, I'm of the opinion that he is possibly the best player I've ever seen.
He was a jewel, a pure nugget of gold.
He had a map of the pitch in his head and seemed to know where everybody else was; Some of his passes were almost proof of telepathy.
I was Best's biggest fan, and even I will concede that Gazza was at least as good.
Watch this for his goals, but it was his vision that I admired. (I'm off hunting for a youtube compilation)
