Guys,

Having just sold my soul and acquired an i5, I was hoping that you nice folks would give me your top 3 apps (not games please) that you currently use, and what they do.

There's too many on the "app store" to sift through and I'm too busy to do it.

Many Thanks.

Ninj.

WhatsApp: A free program you can use to send textmessages with. It seems not many of the UK-people use it yet (GMJR is one of the only I know). Use the free version!

As I'm not an iPhone user I'm not sure what Apple specific apps are must have but assuming they work as they do in Android then I don't believe Apple have got their mapping application sorted yet so a good start might be Google Maps
I
f you're planning on doing any browsing on the phone and use Lastpass then their iPhone app is seriously useful as is their sister app Xmarks for making all your bookmarks portable and keeping everything in sync.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

I read this on Avon & Somerset police twitter yesterday:
QuoteADDED: 11/02/2013 13:26

Tracking software helped us arrest a suspected burglar just minutes after the crime was reported to us at weekend.
The 42-year-old man was arrested by officers on suspicion of burglary in the early hours of Saturday morning.
At about 4:30am we were called to an address in St George. The offender had already left the scene so officers in a patrol car started searching the area and other areas nearby.
As the officers in the car were travelling along Charlton Road nearby officers, who were speaking to the victims alerted them that one of the items stolen - an iPad with tracking software - was showing its location as Charlton Road.
The officers then spotted a man on a mountain bike carrying a large shopping bag full of items. When officers asked the man to stop he made off. Officers pursued him into Heathcote Road where he was detained.
The shopping bag was found to contain items believed to match all the property which had been taken from the burglary.
This swift arrest just goes to show the value of these tracking software programmes and we strongly recommend that people with smart phones, laptops and tablet devices make use of them.
Having your gadgets stolen will be a huge inconvenience but remember it's not just the item that's stolen it is all the data it holds as well. This could be contact numbers, precious photographs or important documents. The cost to your wallet and your time could be considerable.
The apps will help you get the technology back and mean we can apprehend the criminals quickly â€" and often catch them red-handed. If you own a Smartphone, tablet or laptop it makes sense to find software that's right for you and install it.
Regards
Blunt

"Co-Pilot GPS (UK)" (there's also US, & Europe versions) - Top GPS. Clear to read, good voice commands, fast to adapt when you miss a turn. Streets ahead of TomTom.
"Torch" a make-your-phone-a-torch app. Very handy for finding stuff in the under-stair cupboard.
"RDP Lite" Remote operate my PC from anywhere. Even on 3G it is quite usable.
"Keeper" a password protected database app for keeping passwords and other stuff you can't commit to memory.
"Skype" if you're feeling chatty.

Also work PIN protecting your phone in case it's lost, in which case you need to load "Find my phone" by Apple so you can "go round with the boys" and recover your phone if its nicked!

If you are "out and about" a lot:-
"AA Parking" Find car parks and what they cost.

My phone charges overnight in a dock by my bed and I use it as my alarm, so I use the "Night Stand" App for a dim-able clock. The "do not disturb" function of the phone stops calls and texts waking me up.

There's also "TeamSpeak 3" for when you just have to listen in on the game channels!!
