Just read this glowing review of Call of Duty:Ghosts....

It’s a woeful experience, empty bluster and noise, shouting into the  wind of meaningless explosions and pointlessly detailed locations.  Tomorrow in a full review I’ll discuss the technical issues, and the  depth of failure the experience truly offers. And maybe how much it  improves as it goes on? Maybe?

Once you’re clear of that intriguing opening, you’re faced with a  sequence of shooting at pop-up baddies followed by a sequence shooting  from the back of a truck. It couldn’t be less inspired or more generic.  It’s like it hates you, itself, everything. Someone somewhere said,  â€œYeah, just put them in the back of a truck shooting, because f*****g  hell, they’ll buy it anyway,” before putting his plastic coffee cup down  on a desk, leaning his head against a wall, and sighing.

Remember COD2? What a sublime single player experience that was. Sigh.

It gets better (or worse depending on your sense of humour).

Reviews of the latest  Call of Duty video game have reported problems with the graphics on the  PlayStation 4 edition of the title.
         Testers said that its frame rate dropped at several points during the game causing a stutter-effect.
         The PS4 version of CoD: Ghosts is the only console edition  that renders its images in 1080p high definition. The Xbox One and Wii U  versions create less processor-intensive 720p resolutions.
         Publisher Activision has not commented.

o-ooo-oo-oops! The only "Next Gen" console with equivalent PC graphics resolution and guess what? It tanks. Not blaming the PS4, because even next-gen are getting sloppy console ports!

Guess what the really depressing thing is though, it will still sell by the bucket load, Activision will make a big fat profit and we'll be having the same conversation in a year or two when they release the next one.

I'm as guilty as the next person though, my Steam account is full of games everyone said were rubbish but which I hoped would somehow actually be great games. Like many gamers I'm a naive optimist, gullible and have the memory of a goldfish

Everyone get exactly what they deserve. And anyone who buys this game will too.

John Walker's posted his full review now, over on Rock Paper Shotgun.

It is scathing.

I can only assume that the people who buy COD for the single player and like it, are too young to have been around for the Half-Life/System Shock glory days. It's upsetting that games these bad get such great sales.
