Just thought I would check in with some others here. Now that I'm looking at playing Star Citizen. I think a tiny upgrade is in order. Question is, can I get away with keeping the CPU I currently have?

Q9550 CPU running at 2,833Ghz
Asus Maximus Extreme MB

4GB 1600Mhz DDR3 - Needs another 8GB here I think

MSI GTX560Tx-Ti - Will defo need an upgrade. I'm thinking some kind of SLI combo that doesn't break the bank. Looked at maybe a single EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB PhysX CUDA Classified Hydro Copper as they come with waterblock, I won't need to buy that separately.

120GB RevoDrive3 PCI-E SSD

The reason this hardware is so outdated is I have been using my gaming laptop as my primary machine since I got it almost two years ago now.

If you are upgrading mainly for SC, I would wait quite a bit before doing anything.

The game is coming 2015, that's nearly a year and possibly more; quite a bit in computer time.

That's true. Thinking about picking up a second hand mb with i7 support and maybe clock the s#!* out of my gfx card.
