Well... I bet they didn't see this coming?

And here I thought voting for them was a protest vote.. Oh wait. Maybe it is?!

As one observant commentator put it "On Thursday Labour gained almost twice as many seats as UKIP actually hold. And after their big wins UKIP still control precisely bugger all councils and will have zero effect on how any UK council is run or on the policies it makes. But listen to the BBC and you'd think Nigel Farage had just become Prime minister!"

Well done the Beeb for another example of informed and balanced news coverage

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Yes, it's blown totally out of proportion by the media - as usual.

I read an excellent article on the Guardian today which said that now UKIP have actually gained a few voters, the major parties are going to have to stop sneering at them and actually address their policies instead of banging on about them being racist (which they're not).

Which is good thing, because frankly UKIP's policies are toilet. Did you know that one of their policies is to abolish maternity leave? They would be a complete disaster should they get anywhere near Westminster.

Its the same old excuss about UKIP just getting protest votes, of course there will be a bit of that but maybe the policy on Europe is a valid one that people agree with? Ignorant politicians?

Apparently I actually exist! Or maybe it was the drink?

Gone_Away

Call it what you want guys. Snokio's right.

The people have sent a message. Sure they won't get into power (not for a while), but the rest need to take notice as just maybe the population are tired of the UK being a dumping ground for the unemployed in Europe.

Penfold

Agreed.

The UKIP vote is a vote telling the party you would normally support to get a handle on those things which matter to you and which they're failing to address.

Europe results coming in now on bbc news

A message perhaps, but all that will happen is that the main Parties will "adjust" their view in the media so as to "appear" to be in sync with the Public..........and carry on regardless of public opinion with their own Agendas.

We don't just need UKIP as an alternative party in this Country.......we need a completely alternative view altogether...........one that dismisses "allied views", "(£)old boys' networks'" and supplicant Political idealogy that rewards failure at the highest level  with yet another Promotion..........you know what I am talking about don't you Greg?!!.

The Beeb are but one of a number of news organisations that are desperate for UKIP to do well in elections........why?........because underlying all that Political correctness imposed upon us, for the past 15 years,  by Politicians and the EU, lies a deeper and more discernable emotion............Nationalism!!.

.......and straight away, without seeing any faces reading this, I know,  HORROR........we can't mention that word....we can't discuss it......but it has become a symbol for MANY Nations within the EU who are struggling against the "BLUEPRINT" that the "POLITICIANS" want to "IMPOSE" upon us................Orwell was a Visionary.

Anyone at the moment, who has a view, either political or visionary, is subject to Global Review.......and therefore authentification and verification is carried out by??????.................no, not an independent body as you would believe, but a funded body, that has an Agenda.......and that Agenda is either Politically (Power) motivated or Financially (Power) motivated and in most cases BOTH!!.  Nationalism is a thorn in their side because it is emotion over Profit, pride over Pounds......and deeply damaging to the long term financial earnings of "that select group" that are politicians.   Lopok at your local MP if you will.......and see how many have actually had a "proper job" for at least ten years......you will be hard pressed to find 5% of our Countries politicians who have had any experience of non political life......and yet they are appointed to positions that change the lives of Millions........

............the last Five IT contracts that ALL Governments have been involved with have ALL turned into Disasters with Massiven Overspends or cancelled contracts.............why?..............do we not have experienced IT people in this Country who could run these contracts?....of course we do......but they are left in the hands of Government officials who haven't a f>>>ing clue,no experience but are made Ministers based upon how "popular" they are with colleauges and who their Father was!!.

It REALLY is time to end this farce and make the UK a Republic..............and make Politicians and Financial Institutions truly responsible for their actions.......Stocks and hangings would be a good start for Politicians who failed to meet their Election promises.....after all, they are all too keen to make sure the Nurses perform to target and within budget.............but ALWAYS have an excuse when they fail to deliver!!!.

If any of you have a conscience, and a true desire to make this Country Great once again,......then YOU will ALL vote UKIP at the next election.....let's get back to who we once were......and Control our own Destiny!!

And that is the essence of politics.  Speak with right hand and hope people don't notice what the left hand is doing.  See how easily 'Republic' got introduced when UKIP policy is fully supportive of the British monarchy?

I'm not arguing for or against UKIP, just saying that we need to watch all politicians carefully and make sure that what we read and watch is factual and not fictional.

I'll admit though, it is refreshing to have a different discussion than the usual right versus left debate!
